Ok dropped my son off last night at the hotel & up first thing this morning to meet him over at MEPS.  Typical mom stuff, did you eat? how'd you sleep? you ok? And a few more questions....he was awesome today!  Sort of just kept smiling & laughing at me & telling us all he loved us.  He's all offically sworn in & signed the contract to change him from DEP to Enlisted.  I couldn't be more proud.  So many well wishes from family & friends today.  He didn't want to take his phone because he didn't want to mail his phone back, but he was fine with taking my phone....LOL.  As long as I get the "I'm here" call tonight don't really care what he calls me on.  He's boarding the flight as I write this & was lucky enough to get a straight through flight.  I told him he would probably have to wait around at O'Hare as people from all over arrive tonight. Well gonna go make a countdown calendar so I can cross of the days until graduation, i'm guessing it will be 5/6 unless they keep him around for a bunch of processing days....next up the box?

Congratulations!  All the best to your son.  My son just graduated Friday, 3/4.  It was amazing and worth the loooong wait.  Yes, the "I'm here call", the "Box", the "Form" letter, a call in week 3, and the "I'm a Sailor" call after Battlestations week 8.  A proud, emotional journey and a graduation you won't soon forget.  Keep us posted....we're right here if you need us.  :)

It dam near killed me when I dropped my son off at the hotel the night before he was to leave for bootcamp.  I really felt like I was abandoning him.  He's been in a little over 3 weeks now, gotta a coupel of letters and he seems to be doing fine.  Just wants beer and a coke:)  That's my boy!

Got a call (finally) after week 3.  Everything is going good wit the exception of wisdom teeth pulling and having his in grown toe nails ripped out.  But he's gettin through it and doing fine.  I guess they don't get any news so he wanted to know what was going on in the world...  Idda be alright mom's and dad's.
