Since receiving the form letter we've been researching for flights and the best prices.  Well, after reviewing all our options for flights we just decided to drive from TX to Chicago.  The flights for us are outrageous for my husband, myself and two teens.  I searched all airlines and options and there's no way we can afford to fly out all four of us roundtrip.  I already booked a room at the Navy Lodge, so we were lucky to get that reserved and in all we're excited that we will be there to see our son graduate and his younger brothers are really looking forward to it.  I wouldn't be surprised after this those two enlist as well.

So far, we haven't received a letter, but that's okay his little note he put on the form letter info and envelope he sent us put us at ease.  We've been writing him like crazy and many of his friends are doing so as well.

One thing I think I did incorrectly was that I put some pictures that I printed out with one of the letters and I made them 4x6.  Is he going to get in trouble if they're not wallet size?  I completely forgot to make them wallet size.

he will be fine with that size picture. Not to worry. I know many make collage of pictures and print on a regular sheet of paper to send. Enjoy the drive! We have an Rv and take summer trips anyway- ours will be long this year but so worth it.

Thank you Mern!  I was concerned after I mailed it the pics were the wrong size for him to receive.  WHEW!!!

I'm looking forward to the drive, lets see how my teens do!  LOL

pokey1042, if a pic fits in the envelope and the subject matter is fine, then it will be fine.

Enjoy your bonding time in the vehicle on the way up.

We had the same issue.  It's the two of us and two teens.  We are going to be making the drive from MS but we are excited. We didn't get the letter yet but I talked to my son on Thursday and he confirmed the date for PIR.  They called !e to ask some medical question and she let me talk to him it was a wonderful surprise.  I have to admit I cried the rest of the day.  It was overwhelming to hear his voice.

If I’m not in the Military can we still stay at the Navy Lodge or the other one. I forgot the name. My son left for boot camp on 6/14. So when is his PIR?  I miss him so very much. It is hitting me so very hard today.

Cimbry11 yes you can but under you lived ones name. I know how hard it can be,I thought I was mourning my son. As he was the baby of family. But keeping busy will keep you from Thinking too much. Your Loved one will be fine, keep your head up, remember you are their strength.
