Today is the day that we take him to his recruiter so that he can go to the hotel and then to MEPS tomorrow.

I have cried like so much my eyes are swollen and I know that this is only the beginning. His leaving has also hit our 6 year old daughter hard today.

I've tried to point out all of the positives to her, but she knows that her bubba is leaving and she will not get to see or talk to him for a long time ( in her world). It is hard for me to disagree with that.

We have done our usual Sunday routine...church, lunch out afterward, dad takes a nap, and relaxing.  My son promises me that he will get a good meal at the hotel this evening.

I do have to admit that I'm amazed how God puts things and people in my life. This morning there was a show on food network about the military cooks and how they are trained. Then when we got to church, several of the ladies shared with me about when their son went into the military. We have another recent high school grad that leaves Aug. 6 for Army basic training.

To add to that, our Atlanta Braves are playing the Chicago Cubs here in Atlanta for the next few games...my son found that kind of funny.

I know that in the big picture of becoming and being a Navy family, these next 8-9 weeks are a very small part of it all, but for now, it feels like the biggest.

I understand how hard this is for your family. God does strange things but yet it works out. God sent this miracle to my boyfriend as well. At first I didn't understand why, but now I know that this is the best for him. Tell your daughter that this is going to help her big brother, that he will be fine and he will be thinking about her all the time. Which is the truth, I know how much my boyfriend misses his brothers. This will help you all to become stronger and closer! I will pray for your son when he goes through MEPS, and through this whole process. Just remember yes it will be hard, but in the long run, this is for the best! My best wishes to you and your family.
