Posted on July 1, 2012 at 1:30pm 8 Comments

I am a SR girlfriend. I have been with him for two years now and I'm so proud of his choice. but I also can't help to be bitter about it sometimes. I know this is the best for his future, but I miss him so much. I am going to the graduation on the 6th of July. I am going with his parents and we are so excited to see him. We do have a few questions in hopes for answers. I have been all over this website trying to find answers, so I hope I can get a few from here. I have no idea what we need…

Since you closed your Blog Post to comments, I hope that means you found your answers.  Some of the answers to your questions are in the RTC's Family Guide and others can be found in Boot Camp Mom's, PIR Reference Information, and/or New Members Stop Here.  The password for the vehicle pass is in the form letter that your SR probably sent to his parents.  If you did not find your answers, open your Blog Post to comments and some of us will be along to help.  You may also want to join Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors.  (Group names and links within this Comment are clickable links.)

Hi, Got your message. I'm one of the N4Moms veterans on the site to help out.  On the airport gate passes, you will meet your new sailor at the airport early Sat. morning.  They are bussed out there very early to wait for flights.  He will have the info by PIR day so you will know what airport, flight times, airlines.  Many like to get out there and wait for the bus to arrive with the sailors on it.  Or busses probably!  There are lots of sailors!  :-)  You then meet up with your sailor and can get the passes for your group at the airlines counter.  Don't worry....there will be people out there to help you...the USO is wonderful to the military families there.

Yes, you bring ID for both the airport and PIR.  It needs to be photo state ID and your names should be on his PIR list, although "extras" get in.  I don't know if his form letter was sent to you or the parents, but this info is in that.  If you are driving there, you will need a gate pass which whomever got the form letter with password can get online.  Again, the info is in the form letter (received right after he left).  The PIR gate pass requires the password from that letter.  If you drive to PIR, you also need proof of insurance/registration on the car, or the rental agreement if you rented a car.  If you take a hotel shuttle, you don't need the gate pass or the insurance/registration info.  But when you return your sailor to RTC that night, if you want to drive on base, you need the gate pass.  Otherwise, you can drop him off at the front gate (further for him to walk then).

The form letter is the key to all of the info you asked, except for the airport info!

Welcome to NavyForMoms.com!!

I hope you get all the information here you are looking for.  Please stop by the Survival Guide for New Moms for some of the info to start with.
If you have a new Recruit and need phone cards for them please check out Calls for Recruits.org and get them for FREE.  I feel that the Family, Loved Ones, nor the Men and Women of our Armed Forces should have to pay for phone calls from Boot Camp.  The link above will take you to the website to send the email for the FREE phone cards if you need them.  Please spread the word if you know of anyone who can use this great service!!!
