So my fiance, Eric, left for basic training on 11/01/11. The first day after he left was honestly the worst day of my life. I could not stop crying, and his mom had to literally pull us off of each other to make him go. Watching him walk down the hall way towards his travel briefing was so traumatic, but at the same time made me so proud to see my baby taking the first step towards his dream of being a US Sailor. It's now day three, and things have gotten a little bit easier. I've stopped crying every hour, and I finally got his address from his recruiter today (which seems to be WAY faster than some of you other ladies are getting your recruits addresses, but I'm not complaining!), and writing letters seems to be the best way to help me let out a lot of the pain and stress and emotion I'm feeling right now. I'm trying to keep everything very upbeat and positive, because I don't want to make him worry. But it's hard not having him here- Eric is my best friend, I tell him EVERYTHING and I am so used to always having him to comfort me on my bad days. Now that he's not here, it's really hard to find other people to talk to...my friends have been good, but I can tell that not only do they not really understand what I'm going through, but theyre getting fed up hearing about Eric and bootcamp all the time. Eric's mom and I are very close, and we've been calling and texting constantly, which helps because I know that she is really struggling with this too. I've been going to the gym a LOT too, and my yoga class this morning really helped to ease a little bit of my anxiety. If anyone else has tips on how to make the time go by faster, PLEASE let me know! Also, I'd love to hear from anyone whose recruit is Ship 12 Division 030, since that is where my baby Eric is!

Take care, and I hope that this bootcamp flies by for everyone!

Thanks Denise!
I've already made a couple of girlfriends on here whose recruits are about a week ahead of mine, but they've been really helpful and really supportive. Each day gets a little bit easier, and every morning I can wake up a little bit happier because it's one day closer to seeing Eric again!!! Trying to stay positive!! :)
Thank you so much for that link too, I'm sure it will be really helpful! Take care,

Meagan

Thanks for the info Denise, luckily since I sort mail for my building at college as my work study job, I was able to grab those two letters that I had sent this afternoon before they were picked up. I am calling his recruiter to get a professional opinion on this, seeing as how I am extremely anxious to send these letters, but I definitely do NOT want him to think that I am not writing to him. I'll let you know what the recruiter says. Thanks!
