For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Going Away Party
Well, I guess there's no denying the fact that he is actually leaving anymore... We had his going away party this past weekend and it was AWESOME to see so many people that we know and love there supporting him full-heartedly in his future endeavors.
So now we can check "have going away party" off of our to-do list before he leaves, along with "get pictures taken" and "take care of financial matters". Now if only he would work on "lose weight", we'd be golden. I'm worried that he will have to spend an extra week there if he doesn't drop the lbs that he's supposed to.
He had his 7 day meeting with his recruiter today. It's funny, since he signed his contract in February, not once has he said that he is nervous. Today, however, when I asked him how his meeting went, he finally said that he is "getting a little nervous". Typical guy, I guess. Here I am worrying myself sick for the past 9 months and he is just now getting nervous? Haha.

My son also said that he was nervous those last few check ins before MEPS, but he was nervous because he thought there was a possibility that he hadn't lost enough weight to pass MEPS.....was just within the limits when he went to MEPS. Now, 6 wks into BC and he has lost 15 more pounds. (maybe more)
I think nervous is good, means that he is serious about his commitment.

Hi :) ... my son was nervous because he had to gain weight. but he did ok, pretty sure your son will loose those extra lbs :) good luck and god bless you!

Thank you for all of your support! Andrew is actually my boyfriend of over two years... He told me this morning that he is at 20% and that his recruiter told him he would be fine. Of course, I am still a worry-wart over here! (Always have been, always will be!)
