It's exciting to know that three of the sailors who come to the house are involved with the Navy's mission to provide needed relief to the country.
One of them said: "We are in Hati, and many of us have been to the beach doing Humanitarian relief work. I got to go to...and did medical relief work for 3 days. It was the most exhausting, fulfilling and blessed situation I think that I have ever been in. The Haitian people are wonderful, and very thankful of all the care that we can give (even if it is the most priminal care, due to location, lack of electricity, no clean water, and minimal supplies). Everything we can offer is a blessing to the people. The damage is sad to see, but it is an eye opening experience. In the past I have thought of missions work after I finish college, but this experience has really defined my thoughts and I can see myself working more and more in that direction. It is very rewarding to see how you are helping people and to see people work with you to help themselves."
Another one was at home on New Year's leave and got recalled. He had to leave his family six days early to go to Haiti to help.
I am so proud of these young people and their dedication!
