Good Morning everyone.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me where is the best place to stay in Newport Rhode Island. My son is looking for a place to stay the night before he enters OCS, and I was wondering which Hotel is the closest or very nearby. Thank you in advance !

Hello,  my son left yesterday to RI for OCS on Sunday March 1, 2015.   He called this morning to tell our family he loves us.   I'm holding back the tears but am so proud!

Welcome, Amanda!  You have every reason to be so very proud of your son and when he completes this rigorous training, you will be even more proud of him!  My son completed OCS at the end of last October. It was very, very challenging and I know at times he wanted to give up, but he saw it through and came out an even more impressive young man. It is hard to watch them go through this and you will be tested along the way, but you will both do well!  I don't know if you are on Facebook, but each OCS class establishes a Facebook page/closed group AND you will have access to the postings that the Officer Training Command provides. I found these groups incredibly helpful, supportive, interesting and educational. You will see photos of your son along the way, etc. Log into Facebook and search for a group that has your son's class number: OCS  _ _ -15 and hopefully you will find his group and you will be allowed to join. It will become a lifeline for you!  All the best!

Hi Amanda, my husband and received a call from our son this morning also.  I've thought about him all day and wondering what he was doing and how he was holding up!! I can't wait to hear from again.  I've already sent him a letter and will write again in the morning.  Hang in there!!!
