Here are some excerpts from the recent letters I got from Tim….♥

Jan 2. 2011 - He didn’t have much to say today
“We are losing 2 shipmates, one for writing letters to another recruit during church and another for keeping her cell phone. I am doing what I am told to do, no more, no less. they are not sending me back. We now do armed watches. I have lost track of the what day it is, and if I told you the chatter was bad during the day, its worse at night.”

Jan 4. 2011
“Don’t worry too much about me, I will make it through. I have gotten all your letters to date as far as I know. 074 is our brother Division, we are both integrated, or co-ed. But the females sleep across the hall. We had our 1st inspection today, sad to say but 60-70% of our DIV failed. I took 2 hits on the PI but on the CART DMI I took 0 hits. These kids have not learned to get with the program yet…. I cant wait till they do or get ASMO’D which is put back 3 weeks to the rear. We have the firs test and zone on Thursday and that will complete the first 3rd of basic.”

Jan 5. 2011
“Well somehow my CART DMI score got all messed up, I am not sure if they will fix it. I was told that I wanted to fail that inspection. Anyway we have our test tomorrow. Today was pretty uneventful, almost like we had a lazy day if thats what you want to call it. I am getting so sick of the endless chatter, but I can’t let you down! (I was gonna leave all the mushy stuff out but….) Thanks for all the photos, you are my driving force, with out you all this means nothing. (aww…) It is getting easier for me. Only 37 days left, but we might have to come back after Graduation for 3 days to finish up because of all the Holiday holds. I will find out more later”

Jan 6. 2011
“We have our scheduled phone call on monday, we just took our first test and I passed, but they have not posted our scores yet. Another recruit caught a ride on the ASMO train for recruit to recruit contact. We are now down 11. Tomorrow is uniform issue #2. Our MCA (mid cycle assessment) is coming up in 2 weeks! Our female MA lost her job for talking back to the RDC’s. I am going to medical tomorrow for my foot, if they want me to go to tranquility though I am going to put that on hold. After all its been about a week since I hurt it and I am doing fine now. Thanks for the calendar, it helps keep my days in perspective.”

Jan 8. 2011
“First off I love you. It was so great to hear your voice again. That was an unscheduled call we got for doing well, but here is the bad news, we might lose our Monday call. These kids just don’t want to learn. Not only do they not want to shut up but they also want to point fingers. I hope we don’t lose it, if we do I am gonna be upset they took that away from me, and I am not talking about the RDC’s. Hearing your voice made my day, and well my month. I’ll never stop loving you”

** I did get my monday call, instead of getting an hour they lost all but 15 min of it **

Thank you for posting these excerpts. It's interesting to get a glimpse of what they're going through. I don't think my son will write as much. He also hates it when people chatter too much. He could relate to your husband!

My son arrived at boot camp yesterday. I wish there were a way to find out how he's doing. His recruiter told them that they will be deprived of sleep for the first two days. My son sleeps a lot! I hope he can manage to stay awake. LOL!

aww... yeah, the first few days my husband said he got maybe 8 hours of sleep over 3 days.... the first 2 weeks for me were hard, I got his box of clothes 2 days after he got there and his address a about 10 days after that. He didnt start getting mail until hed been there a little over 2 weeks..... probably because it took me forever to get his address.... his firs few letters were very mopey and sad, but they have gotten better! Write your son ALOT they love getting mail! I have educated myself alot with this site! Take some time, meet people, chat away.... the time goes by faster than you'd think. We just hit the 1/2 way mark and I am still lost as to where the time went!

Even though I went to boot camp 30 years ago in Orlando, it all sounds very much the same.  After week three is when things begin to pickup for them as a unit.

Thanks for posting that, for a moment I was back with my old company.
