Today, my youngest, left for bootcamp.  This was the hardest thing Ive had to do, let go of my baby.  It was hard when my middle son left for the Navy and I miss him a great deal, but letting the youngest go is even harder.  Even though I still have a 22 year old son still around, there is still an "empty nest" to come home to.  I am so proud of my boys......I cant wait for PIR in September.   My middle son will be flying in to go to Great Lakes with us to see his little brother graduate from BC.

I can only imagine how you feel. My son is leaving for bootcamp this Thursday. He has seen me cry when i start thinking about his big day. It upsets him to see me cry as he says that makes him feel like he has made a mistake in joining. I know I need to be strong but it's so hard. Did you go see him get sworn in that morning he left? I am going but i am so afraid that I will break down and that will upset him. How did you do?

Wow! I will say a prayer for you. I know tonight will be hard. I still have 28 days with my baby. Tough times ahead, but they are good boys who have made a great decision for their futures. Thank God for N4M. I don't know what I would do without all of you mommas, just like me.

Thanks guys!  I thought this would be easier this time since we did this only a year and a half ago, boy was I wrong!!  He gets sworn in tomorrow.  I won't get to go to that.  He and 2 other deppers left today for St Louis 3 and 1/2 hours away.  They'll spend the night in a hotel tonight and get sworn in tomorrow.  I wish I could go to that but I have to work tomorrow.  I took the day off today, it's a good thing, I've cried all day!

My son left to BC July 6 was very difficult for me. I miss him a lot however and worry a lot. My husband said that this is a great decision he made and to be proud of him. today I got his first letter Well was a printed welcome letter from the BC and he was able to write a little note there. Told me that first couple of days were nutz and now he is doing a lot better and is  happy there.

He is in SHIP 4 DIV 818 Any mom there?

Regarding the sworn in i was there Holding my tears so i wil not cry and embarrased him I was the only mom there Its very emotional and make you see your son become a man. I will pray for all of our sons Any one graduating Sept 1?

My one and only left April 12 and graduated boot camp June 10. That was the hardest time in my life that I've experienced. Until then, there had never been a point in time that I didn't see him or talk to him every day.I cried like a baby when I left him at MEPS. We waited with him until they called his name to get in line for the bus.The first 3 weeks were the hardest. Once I got the "I'm still alive" call, I was relieved for a little while. He's now in Pensacola for his A school. It's better since I he has his cell phone and we talk or text everyday. I won't lie though, it's still not easy. My husband was in the Navy for 8 years and then the Army for another 4 so I thought I'd deal with the separation really well. It's a whole new ballgame when it's your 17 year old son. However, my son proved that with the help of the Navy, he can take care of himself. Good luck to your SR's. Remember, no news is good news and the unofficial military motto is "hurry up and wait"!
