Well it's been quite a while

Well it’s been quite a while since I posted on this site.  My older boy has been in 8 years and still packing chutes. My younger one has been in 7 years has 2 boys and is recruiting now and has tested for E6. Both have been on 2 deployments and I have been on 2 tiger cruises. My husband and I have flown all over the country for visits.  Not so much lately as my 3rd and oldest boy is in the army and based in HI. His kids are living with us for now.   I am just as proud now as the day they all…

DEPLOYMENT

Looking forward to seeing my youngest son in a few weeks when the ship docks in Pearl Harbor.  He's been on deployment on the CV for the past few months.  We get to spend a few days enjoying the island then a few more days together on the cruise back to San Diego.  4 days after returning home my middle son will be home on leave from Florida for 2 weeks.  So excited!!!!

Missing my boys

Oldest boy is still in Jackxonville,Fl the the youngest is on deployment on the Carl Vinson. Hoping to go to San Diego to see the ship come in. In the meantime we communicate through email and an occasional phonecall. I talk to my oldest almost daily. I'm hoping to fly to Florida in march. Its hard to think of my youngest being thousands of miles from home on his birthday and only 19 years old and watching radar screens! Wow. After 3 years I would've thought this would get easier, not!

Holidays

Driving into Nashville today to pick my youngest sailor up at the airport.  He'll have approx 2 weeks with us before going on deployment.  Im very sad that he wont be with us at Christmas.  My other sailor won't be able to come home until Dec 28th.  Wish I could have them both here at the same time.  Im afraid that won't happen for a long time.  But that's Navy life.  I'm very thankful to at least have them home even if it's at different times.

My baby left today

Today, my youngest, left for bootcamp.  This was the hardest thing Ive had to do, let go of my baby.  It was hard when my middle son left for the Navy and I miss him a great deal, but letting the youngest go is even harder.  Even though I still have a 22 year old son still around, there is still an "empty nest" to come home to.  I am so proud of my boys......I cant wait for PIR in September.   My middle son will be flying in to go to Great Lakes with us to see his little brother graduate from… Continue

Here I go again!

My middle son has been in for a year and 1/2 now and will be promoted to E-3 July 1st and was just informed that he will be eligable to take the test for E-4 in October.  Im so proud of him, but miss him something aweful!  My "baby"  leaves on July 11th for BC.  Im missing him already and he hasn't even left yet.  He just graduated high school in May.  It's hard to believe all my kids have graduated high school and are leaving the nest,  this is just a little hard to deal with.

My son called me today (he's stationed in Jacksonville Fl) to tell me that when he was on lunch break at a local fast food place he was about to pay for his order when an elderly man standing next to him told him to save his money, "this one's on me - you do enough already".  My son was stunned for a second but then thanked the man for his kindness.  Wow!  Little acts of kindness like this really makes a sailor's day! FINALLY!!!!

My son graduated from A school on Aug 24th and finally orders came thru and can come home on leave on Monday the 20th, almost a month later. Chief messed up the orders the first time and all had to be sent back to be done all over again. All this has been very frustrating but Im sure it won't be the first time and certainly not the last. All this will be repeated in a few months when son #2 leaves for boot camp in the spring. Anyway my son assures me he will get his full 2 weeks although his… Continue

He's finally gotten his orders!

My son has finally gotten his orders to his next command. After being in Pensacola since Feb he's finally coming home for 2 weeks and then off to another phase of his journey, Jacksonville Fl, which is what he wanted. I am so relieved that he not only got what he wanted, but also that he got shore duty for the next 2 years. I know after that he'll be shipped out, but at least I have more time to get used to the idea. Anyway, congrats Micah! I love you!!!!

My son, Micah, has been in A-school in Pennsacola since Febuary and is finally about to leave in 4 weeks. He's been through so much this summer and is really depressed. He's had a girlfriend there and just yesterday she dumped him because he only has 4 weeks left there. I tried to reassure him that there is someone out there that is more mature and able to handle a relationship (this girl was only 17). Someone meant for him. and then last week he found out someone stole his Navy Federal debit… Continue

So Very Proud of My 2 Sons

1st son is about to graduate A-school in 6 weeks in Pensacola. 2nd son is a senior in high school this year and has just returned from St Louis to take his ASVAB. He scored high enough to be offered a job of OS. He'll be leaving me a year from today. So many mixed emotions! So very proud but at the same time my "baby" is leaving me to follow his older brother on a Navy journey. 1st DEP meeting next week. Here I go again about to take a 2nd trip down that road of letting go.

Another Son Is Leaving

Well, my son is in A-school in Pensacola and finally graduating Aug 24th after waiting 3 1/2 months for his class to start. The recruiter showed up on my doorstep the other day, my youngest son, a senior in HS this year, will be taking the ASVAB next week and is hoping to leave as soon as he graduates next May or soon after. I hope I'll be prepared when he leaves (but I know I won't be). It's been 6 months and still having a hard time with the 1st son being gone. At least I know what to expect.… Continue

Finally!!! Son classed up,

Finally my son classed up and started school on Tuesday the 8th after being in Pensacola since February. He's so ready to move on to something else. He was fortunate enough to fly home over Memorial Day weekend. Me and his brothers drove him back to Pensacola and were able to stay for a few days. Unfortunately my husband had to work and couldn't go with us. I really hated to leave, I miss him so much. But at least he's busy with school now and able to take his mind off being homesick. One of… Continue

HE'S COMING HOME!!

Woo Hoo! Just found out Micah has permission to come home over Memorial Day weekend. Just booked his flight. Only flight we could find was with Southwest, so that means he'll have to get a ride or rent a car from Pensacola to Panama City. Friday is sooooooooo far away!!!!!

SO Frustrated with My Son

I am sooooooo frustrated with my son. He's in P'cola and has been since Febuary waiting to class up which probably won't be until sometime in June. He says they've added another month to the length of his class time also. The thing is, he never has any money. No idea what he does with it. He pays his cell phone bill, that's the only bill he has. I made him promise to change his direct deposit from our hometown bank to Navy Federal and open 2 accounts, savings and checking putting 75% into… Continue

SO PROUD!!!

My son knew from the time he was a soph in HS that he wanted to be in the navy and went as far as putting the navy emblem on his class ring (he graduated in '09). I was nervous at first when he said 'military" but he was still very young and thought maybe he would change his mind. He didn't. He's always been ADHD and had a very difficult time with school so I was worried about him passing the academic part of it. He flunked the ASVAB twice but was determined to get in. One of his HS teachers (… Continue
