So today I got 3 letters from Tim, these are dated 12/29 - 1/1

He is in MUCH better spirits as he has started to get my letters....♥ He appoligized for being so mopey, but he felt like he was 'trapped in a bubble' and not getting any information. On the 29th he wrote they had their "pinning and commissioning" ceremony on the 28th, and he has an E-6 crow on his left collar. Said he is eating very healthy, alot of fruit and salads, and the food is really good! His DIV is FINALLY starting to work as a team, but alot of them have been really sick and are SIQ (sick in quarters).

On Dec 30th he wrote he almost got a shipmate thrown out of the Navy for being derelict (der-uh-liket; guilty of neglect of duty)    of duty. Because he is the 'MA' he gets 'beat' for everyone, so he stays on top of all the recruits to make sure they do as they are suppose to. He said "they may not like me but they do listen to me" He got asked why he didnt stand up to save the guy and said "If I had messed up that badly then I should have to pay the consequences."

In the same letter he said they are getting ready for their CART DMI (no clue!) which is on tue or wed (1/4 or 1/5) he said he's hoping to 5.0 it. Said it is suppose to be easy to hits and mess up but said "Im not scared!"

On the 31st he made a promise to me:

"Heather, my wife, lover, and soul mate. I promise to never leave you, to be with you forever. To never love you the same, but more and more each and every day. To tell you everything and never ignore you. To be there to cheer you up when you are sad, to love you and tell you everything will be alright when things are bad. To make you proud of me in everything I do, and to do everything I can for you. I love you."

He also told me he was sorry he missed Christmas and New Years with me and his family, but "duty calls", but his New Years Resolution is "to love you (me - heather) more".

He goes to church when he can - says "it helps to empty my cup again and start fresh"

On Jan 1st he wrote they did ALOT of marching, and he thought he hurt his foot, that it was a bit sore and tender, but not enough to complain about it and get sent to SIQ. He does not wanna get sent back because he couldn't train, said if you get sent back its by at least 3 weeks.  Also said he was doing VERY well in comparison to the younger kids.

So, He is beginning to sound alot like Tim now, and not a sad mope... must feel ALOT better now that hes getting mail! Told me their mail gets picked up on tue and wed and gets sent out on Sundays.

You should be very proud of him. Imagine living with these "kids" 24/7!! God only knows how many of them there are! Take care.

I started to tear up with that promise he made to you! You have a very good man! :) My husband is in Div 071 and he's almost 26 years old. He said he feels like he's back in high school with all these young idiots who don't pay attention. He's getting quite frustrated with them too.
