Momnbama, I know how you feel. I had a year to prepare because Michael was in delayed entry program. But nothing ever prepares you to let go of your child. I keep telling my self , let go, and let God. Michael left on the 12th, so I am sure you got your kid n the box. Which really was sad, because it was the last thing you had seen him wear. And then the form letter. Which was great, just to see his hand writing. It is very hard watching our children grow up, but exciting to see them start the future. Just keep positive, and thank goodness for the kids at home. My other son will be signing his marine contract Aug. 1st, so Michael has prepared me for what lies ahead with his brother Morgan. And I have a 15 yr old daughter at home, Molly. She keeps me busy, but its just those little quite moments, that I still find myself breaking down in tears. But be proud. He is going to do amazing things. -ruralnavymom

I am right there with you ruralnavymom..  Jacob just turned 18 in May,graduated from Highschool and gone on July 12th. Got his box 3 days later. Didnt expect it so soon.  And yes seeing his handwriting on that form letter, omg I broke down.. I go lie in his bed and talk to him. Smell his room, and cry..  But we are very proud parents and we all know that our boys are very brave and couldnt be prouder..!!  I also have Tucker is 13 and Miranda is 16 that keep me busy and helps keep my mind off Jake.. but I also too have  my alone moments and my husband is so wonderful to hold me and be there for me.  We already have our plane tickets purchased and ready for Sept 1st..!!  Thanks for writing.. it so helps to know your not alone..!!!!  Carla
