Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

the box

Maybe it's just me but I thought getting the box was a very difficult day for me... And I absolutely hate that they call it "the kid in the box". I get what they mean but I think it is extremely morbid!!

But, at the bottom of my box my son put a note in there for us letting us know how much he loves us and thanked us for all the support, and letting us know everything will be ok. That alone made up for the "kid in the box".

Comment by TenaciousDee on August 25, 2012 at 5:51pm: I was so looking forward to the box and when it came, I cried. I cried as I opened it and as I went through his things. I cried, because there was no note from him, BUT.....as I sat there I thought "wait a minute.....I get a sailor in return". That made me feel a tad better and it's true. What you will go through the next few weeks will be hard. An emotional roller coaster and I won't tell you it will fly by, because it doesn't. Every minute you will think of your SR and having no contact is very hard, BUT I can tell you that you will get through it and your SR's will be fine. This site is amazing and will get you through each day. Everyone of us understands what you are going through. You will be surprised how many friends, co-workers and even family members can't comprehend what you are going through...they don't mean or understand what they are saying when they say it. Remember....the tears...the heartache you feel will be worth the moment you wrap your arms around your sailor. Anyhow, I send each of you a huge hug! Remember we are in this together....! Be PROUD! ;)
