When our daughter joined the Navy in November, July seemed so long off. There was so many things to do. At that time there was Christmas to look forward to and then senior prom and then Graduation. I thought once Christmas was over time would fly.... well she just left for her senior prom and she has 13 days left of school. Time seems to be flying. Dont get me wrong... I am so proud of her and support her decision. She has a great recruiter and the support she has received through the DEP program has been amazing. Thanks for listening.... Just needed to talk to people that would understand the huge range of emotions we as mothers experience.

You may want to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in July, to connect with others who have loved ones leaving in July and who may even end up training with your son. I also suggest you join New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages and Discussions there.
Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer you to some good links on there.

thank you for the additional information. We both belong to the Navydep sight... it sure has helped me and my daughter get some answers. I will definitely check out the Dep - leaving in July sight.
Ooops, sorry to post "son" instead of "daughter". Enjoy this time with her.
denako, if you open up this blog (click on title), you'll see on the upper right "options" with a down arrow. Click on the down arrow, then click "edit this blog" - from there you can change the title of this blog to something short - preferably less than 5 to 7 words. Otherwise, the program simply inserts the first 50 words of the text from body of the blog and use it as the title. Changing it would make it easier to find later on.
Thanks BunkerQB - I did not title the post so it added the body of the blog... I could not figure out how to change until your direction... thanks again, it was a little obnoxious :)
Hahahahaha.......... yeah but we see many of them. THANK YOU for coming back and changing it - now it's perfect!
By the way (BTW), we do have a Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie (clickable link). You'll find everything you need to get started. Videos, PDF files of boot camp processing days, links to all the important groups plus tips on how to use this site. Keep in mind the videos and PDF files may take some time to download the first time you try it. It'll look like nothing is happening.
I noticed you haven't hooked up with any of the groups yet - you should do that. The Boot Camp Moms group will take you from beginning to end. Just open up Survival Guide - all the links all there. I also posted the link to the Survival guide on your page (so you can always find it) - you should periodically click MY PAGE on the menu bar - you'll be surprised what you'll find.

My son signed up for the Navy in October and is also a senior who will leave for boot camp July 2nd. He has talked about joining the Navy seriously since he was 14. He never once changed his mind. He hopes to make it a career. He is so proud to be serving his country and feels blessed to be able to do that. It takes my breath away somethimes that he is so passoniate about this. My other 2 children who are older than him are great kids but like most kids change their minds a half dozen times on what they want to do with their life. But not my Andy. He is steadfast and determined. It has been a journey that's for sure. I hope that the next couple of months bring you much joy and that you can spend as much time possible with your daughter. They grow up so fast and July will be here soon. Anyway welcome to the site. it has really helped me to get prepared especially emotionally as I can get teary-eyed at times as I'm sure we all do.
