Wow! Things have moved so quickly it seems as if just yesterday JT left for bootcamp. Now after that roller coaster ride is over, he is at "A" school. He had done his "OC" spray and did ok with it, and now he has called and he got to choose his duty station. My shock and awe is still in effect. He still has the opportunity to stay stateside for a little longer if he gets "MWD" military war dog, but if not he leaves for Guam after "A" school graduation for two years!! Two years mind you!! Ugh!!! He is very excited, so that makes me happy for him. Things have gone so fast.... From SC to Chicago to San Antonio now on to Guam.... Wow he is going to be well traveled by the end of this next year!!!!
My heart breaks that I won't get to see much of him over the next 2 years but, I know that God has him and is moving him where he is needed. I also know that the Navy was the right choice for him. He is turning into such an awesome young man!! When I talk to him it's is sooo different from before he left in September. Now he is calm and cool and collect.... He gets excited yes, but it's not the little boy excitement of before. The Navy has made good changes in him and I am proud to be called a Navy mom....
So here's a HOOYAH for things to come!!! And to the beginning of a brand new journey!!!!! Gotta love the Navy!!!
HOOYAH!!!!

naturegirl, be sure to join the groups San Antonio MA's (be sure to check out the top 3-4 discussions, although you may already know most of that since he will be graduating in a few weeks) and MAA Moms. I look forward to getting to know you better in those groups. If you have any questions, just ask.

Not many are picked for MWD Handler "C" School right out of "A" School.  It does happen every now and then and the candidate must agree to serve for at least 48 months with MWD after graduation from "C" School, so it would involve extending the Sailor's contract at least a year.

Two other groups are New MAA Mom's and Security Sailors, but they are not very active.

Yeah JT didn't want Bahrain... Thank goodness our prayers were answered on that one that he get something else. He is excited about Guam. He has friends in the army stationed in Hawaii that he hopes he will get to see some. Who knows. Congrats on your sons upcoming graduation. Are you going?? In planning to attend JT's at least I hope I can anyway.
J is really hoping for MWD he loves dogs and we have trained lots of retrievers.. He said the 1 st interview went goo he hasn't had the second one yet. I guess maybe after Christmas as Stand for the holidays is tomorrow.
And you are so right our boys will do fine. The Navy has really grown mine up. It's neat talking to him and how mature he sounds now... :)
