My SR requested to leave the Navy after less than a year.  He did get an Honorable Discharge, but he did not stay in the 4 years.  Now he is saying that he is eligible to receive Unemployment Compensation.    Is this true??   He is in the state of Florida.  This does not sound true to me but I was wondering if anyone knew about this?  thanks much!!

Yes, he may be eligible for Unemployment Compensation for Ex-service members (UCX).  You can do  web search for it and find out more.

Are you guys sure?  I don't think gypsy son is eligible.  Of course my data may

be out of date.  Do you guys have a newer instruction than this?

I said "he may be eligible", not that he is eligible; he would need to apply and find out.  Here is another link I found http://statesidelegal.org/unemployment-compensation-ex-servicemembe... about it.

Lemon, did you notice yours says "You served for a continuous period of 90 days or more"

mine says "If you were discharged before completing your first full term, the discharge or release must be for an approved reason under the law.  In many cases, active duty service must be for more than 365 continuous days"

Now that is really weird....

Yes, Craig, but that last sentence does not say "In all cases," it says "In many cases," so he will need to apply and go from there.
