When you say it out loud, it becomes real....

BFF and I were working out tonight....looked over to her and said 12 more days.  She smiled and said it will be okay.  Then she added BC won't be that long and you'll see him.

The next word shocked even me....I said but he won't ever live with me again full time....I'll never get my baby back the way I have him for the next 12 days.  We smiled and she said yea, you're right....finished working out...life is good again.

I get home and realize what I said.  I knew it was the truth, I knew this was the plan but until it came out of my mouth did I realize how much of a break in my heart there is....and how the heck do I pull myself together so he doesn't see me like this.

Do I want him to stay home and be my baby for the rest of our lives....NO!  But wow the idea of not having him here ... not needing me ... whether to share his joys, sadness....Oh my, this is going to be a weepy night!

BUT I'm going to do as Yoda says....Do or do not...there is no try!  So no trying to be strong....I will be!

I completely understand am there with you. For me, Sunday is when I drop him off, Monday is his last MEPS check.  All the thoughts and feelings you mentioned is exactly where I am, too.  My thoughts will be with you!

In the same boat.  We take our son to the office on Monday and go to the base on Tuesday to watch him swear in.  With any luck maybe our sons will be in the same "group".

That realization hit me too, like a ton of lead! When my son left for bootcamp I didn't realize until after he graduated and did the A-schooling and came back home briefly that I wasn't going to have him like it was ever again..he worked at our local grocery store as a 'bag boy' and I got to see him there and at home everyday. He has been in the Navy for year and a half, I rarely see him now. And with the 9month deployment life seems so different. I can not wait to see him in person and give him a great big hug! I am on a mission now to locate one of those 'wardrobes' from the movie The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe- LOL

Sounds like our sons will be at BC at the same time.  Mine checks in at GL on 8/7.  Yours 8/9, 8/10?  Same p-week.  Where is your son coming from?
