Thank u for the warm welcome, there is so much information, it can be a little overwhelming. I had just received my first letter today, my son's PIR is on 08/30/13. I want to start looking for airfare tickets, and recall someone mentioning a particular airline that will allow you to change the flight date if necessary, and without having to buy insurance or pay extra. How in the world can I find that post? I tried to search airline...can u guide me.

Thanks for the Welcome!  I have been surfing the site for a couple of weeks now and I have to say, it is very helpful and a wonderful support for us Navy Moms.  My son just left for BC yesterday and I'm feeling very anxious and stressed right now worrying and missing him. Immediately after a short call from him from the airport, I came to the site and there was a great comment from "Storymom- I think was the user name"? Anyway, it was posted May 24th that was just what I needed to read. It was very calming and reassuring to me.  That comment alone convinces me this is an absolutely wonderful group of folks and blogs and comments here will be a Godsend for me in the upcoming weeks, I'm sure.

I can not figure out how to use the chat room. I can type a question but how do I send it to the chat room? I am using a tablet, no enter button. My daugter is graduating in Great Lakes on July 3.  I see posts about meet and greets. What are they? Is it something I should set up for her?

Thank you for the info Colleen.....would you know if you are allowed to visit with your sailor the day before PIR? We are flying in from N.J. And would fly in earlier if that is allowed. We haven't had any contact with Jen yet, so we are in the dark for info.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome.  I do believe this is a great idea for Mothers with a son/daughter in the Navy.  My daughter is in Great Lakes now.  We hope to receive a package today of her personal belongings and more information about graduation but I suspect this site will serve as a great resource as well.

Hi Colleen!

Thank you for your welcoming e-mail!

I have read the guidelines, which are very sensible.  I'll start by surfing and reading more about the site and the members and learning the meaning of the many acronyms I see.

Hello. I own a small business. I would like to make a banner to hang on my building that would say "Proud Supporter of the United States Navy" and then down below, "Navyformoms.com"  Is that allowed? Thank you?
