Whew...it's nice to have support. Maybe I should have held my tongue, but the whining in every post was starting to get to me... :)

I'm entrusting you with the authority to make sound decisions regarding our wreaths... so "small and sweet" sounds just fine to me! k.

Is your son going to be a submariner also? The idea of being under the water freaks me out but Jake seems to be at ease with it.

You asked if Joshua and Jacob are twins. They are not. Joshua is 20 and Jacob is 18. The younger decided to join then recruited his older brother. Jacob will be and ET on a submarine and Joshua will be a SK.

Hi, Pat! You should've received a notice about the Get-Together on March 14 (just sent it). Do you think you could get two wreaths? I'll pay you for whatever you spend... normally, I'd lean toward fresh flowers, but I bet a florist would charge alot. As long as they look nice, I don't think folks will mind if they're silk. What do you think?

If this isn't up your alley, I've had a couple other ladies offer to help also... I could ask one of them. Let me know. Hugs! k.

(btw, got an email from the sub tonight! From under the sea! Amazing...)

Hey, Pat! I figured March 28 wasn't good because it's into spring break (at least it is for us). But, on that day, Drew could be there! He's supposed to have leave March 20-April 4. Don't know if he can't get here by Sat. afternoon (the 21st) and if he does, he'll probably be pooped. But, if it's possible, I'll bring him!

The chairs on my back deck are "regular" height (24"?). That photo was taken during the recent "snow event" a few weeks back. I'm discovering snow does some pretty weird stuff... did you see where the gaps were between the planks? Thirteen inches of snow and there are still gaps... cray! Hugs, k.

I don't have a voice recording yet but I do have one thing. When we were at his recruiting office getting ready to say goodbye he had this grin on his face that usually means he is up to something. My cell phone beeped and it was a text from Corey simply saying "I love you". I locked it so it can't be erased.

Hi Pat. Thank you for welcoming me into this great place. Corey is my free spirit child that loves adventure. looking back now, I should have been less surprised when he told me that he wanted to join the Navy. He's going in as a machinist mate. I'm so proud of him but miss him so much. Not being able to hear his voice just... well it sucks. I do understand the reasoning behind it. I'll just keep sending mail like crazy!

Pat, I responded to Cindy, but have no answers. However, I gave her the idea of finding another mom on a newly commissioned ship, and asking her the questions. Plus, I repeated your invitation to join Indiana Moms! Hugs, k.

Hi Pat, well, my boy has been on "hold" for more than two weeks now. He is supposed to be dong GM but he can not get any answers as to when his schooling will start. He still has to do two weeks of SCC(?) school. A refresher course on Marlin Spike and all that stuff and then on Hold again before A school for GM. He is totally disgusted with the whole thing. No straight answers, waiting day by day to find out if they have to move to another ship, when A school starts and when his graduation date will be. So his state of mind is a concern. He has always been an active person. He can not just sit and do nothing, it goes against his nature. So his mother and I sit and wait and suffer with him. It VERY hard when you have no recourse to help your child. Brett is 24 years old and has already done 4 years of college so he may consider OCS, but we will see. Drop a line about yours. It helps to connect with others. Regards, Bill

Hi Pat,
I apologize for not replying earlier, I didn't realize that you had replied. I mistakenly thought I would me notified in my usual e-mail when someone posted to my box on this site. Now I know better :-). When I got to work the next day (I work at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard), I checked the Norfolk shipyard's website for the boats that were in drydock and saw it wasn't there, and was guessing that the OK City must have been up at Portsmouth instead. I hope your son likes it up there - I haven't had a chance to visit New England yet. I'd imagine it's a lot like the Pac NW, with harsher winters, though. I'd love to have a few days in Boston, for sure.

Hi, Pat! I keep a list of Sub Moms (as they post) and where their kid is stationed. So far, you're the only OkCity mom on it :-(

The only other thing you could do might be to look at the list of Sub Mom members and visit their pages to see if they mention it. Sorry to be such little help. Hugs help though! k.

She arrived at Goose Creek on 11/20/08 and started A school on 12/15. She is the new kid on theblock. She has a good head on her shoulders and is very devoted to her friends. She is hoping to meet more females when school started. She does have a female friend who starts basic in January and then off to Nuke school so she is awaiting a familar face. We live about an hour from Great Lakes.

Regarding weather: so far, so good! We got about 1/2-inch on Sunday night, which mostly melted yesterday. Then another 1/2-inch last night, which mostly melted today. That's the kind of snow I like: it comes to visit, but it doesn't stay! In Texas, we never have to "shovel heat!"

I think Drew isn't "sleeping in his room" tonight, but have no official word yet. He called Sunday evening and said his phone would be turned off for a while. He had a lousy holiday... the girlfriend gave him the "need space" talk on Wednesday, so he was alone on Thursday. The only comfort he had was watching the Cowboys AND the Longhorns both win their games!

How are things with you & your guy? Hugs, ks.
