We received a phone call yesterday from the recruiter stating that my sons ship date had been post poned to Feb 2017 due to budget cuts. Has anyone heard of this or possiblily know whats going on. HELP! I don't want him to get discouraged.

Dale'sMom97, I left info for you on your My Page.
Just checking in to see if anyone's son/daughter has had any luck getting a new ship out date to RTC or rate change?
Unfortunately it looks like our second son who was due to leave this past July 19th will be having his contract cut. IT seems that his recruiter really isn't working hard to keep him when the statement was made, " There are plenty of people willing to go in as HM..." He has been working hard to get into the Navy since August '15 when he started his Senior year of high school. Now, plan B... either Army or Air Force. Fingers crossed that this all works out. Our first son is a MM on a sub and doing ok. It is hard when one is working on his future and the other seems to be treading water with nothing in sight :-( I wish the best for all of your sailors, present, past and future. I apologize for venting. It is just frustrating....
StacyL), in case I have not given you this info:
Since your future Sailor will be in the Nuclear Field, you will want to join NUKE moms and you may also want to check out Nuke School Charleston and Nuke A School FAQ.
The Rating Information Card for NF can be found at https://www.cool.navy.mil/usn/enlisted/rating_info_cards/nukepower.pdf. (If you get the security warning, it is safe to go there.)
Your Sailor will most likely fly out to "A" School the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Your Sailor may have Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY; if so, join Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY at that time. Some stay in Charleston.
Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month before Your Future Sailor Leaves for....
