How would we know if a son/daughter had to roll into H class? I have read some of the posts below about how/when/why you can be rolled, but how would we find this out?

Thank you LucyJo!

Nancy, your son's class pics are posted on the Officer Training Command Newport FB page. Maybe you will get a glimpse.

Nancey it is was all new to many of us so ask away. I am not able to answer how they moved back into the next class after rolling. If you are FB the class page usually has a lot of helpful info and support too without this and fb i would not have known a lot like the candio boxes and the break down of each phases our LO's are going thru. I will not forget checking the officer training command Newport FB for my LO's picture it was like searching for waldo. What is your LO's going to be doing after OCS, mine in NUPOC he is getting close to finishing prototype training. Is there a reason you are worried about your LO rolling?

Topdog, is yours finished with OCS then? I'm partly worried about rolling because of my daughter's wedding in the spring and LO has assured us that he can be at his sister's wedding because he will be on OHARP while waiting on next naval aviation flight school class to start up. He says he can ask off and recruiters also reassured us of this. But I also just have the normal concern about physically passing all the tests. Facebook pages are awesome, especially the older classes where I can see what they will be doing in weeks to come. Thank you for your reply. I'm guessing NUPOC has something to do with nuclear?

Yes mine is finished he received his commission sept 2015. I was fortunate as mine was more then ready for the physical test, he has been a distance runner thru high school and college. Yes NUPOC is nuclear propulsion officer candidate program. He is the 2nd of 3 schools now.

My son is currently in the 06-17 class.  He rolled during RLP and contacted me between 6-7 pm the same day to let me know.  He rolled to the Holding Class.  This was a very good thing for him.  It gave him time to concentrate and work on what he needed to.  He will be graduating on  Feb 17.  It is a very stressful time for parents and of course our children going thru it.  He finally gets his cell phone back later this week, so I will finally be able to communicate with him besides cryptic emails.

Good Luck!

Nancy - There is also an OCS Survival Guide.  Try googling to see if you can find it.  If not let me know and I will try to upload.  This guide has lots of valuable information.

Thank you Gina!

Our son just went through RLP last Thursday.  We haven't heard a word.  We thought he would call if he rolled, and when he didn't, we expected a phone call on the weekend.  Could someone please tell me if the candidate is given a choice to call home if they rolled, or is it mandatory?  We don't understand why we haven't heard from him.  Thanks

Matt's mom,

If he didn't call chances are he did not roll.  I'm not sure if it's mandatory but I think they have to call to let family know they're not in that original class anymore.  And there's no guarantee that he would have time to call over the weekend.  He could be standing watch or spending time preparing for his classes, studying, or whatever else they have little time for!!!!!

Anna,

Thank you.  That makes up feel so much better.  He is an only and has always been independent.  Our concern was the last letter we received he said he couldn't wait to be able to call home.

Thanks again.  :)

You're welcome Matt's mom!!  I hope he gets to call soon!!!!  Keep me posted!!
