Morning, checking in with all the others that had a loved one leave 6/29. Received the box Thursday, well Friday since I was at work and couldn't sign for it on Thursday. No form letter yet however. We contacted the recruiter on Wednesday and he stated his PIR is 9/1. So we're making our plans based on that information. Just wondering who else has received the box and/or form letter that left on the 29th.

Alicia, my SR left on 6/28.  His PIR is 8/25.  The processing days need to happen and as I understand it, with the 7/4 holiday in there, could go either way for you.  You might want to wait for the letter for flights except for Southwest where there is no charge for change in flight.  The hotel can always be cancelled in time without charge.  You should be getting the letter any day now.  If you sign up for Informed Delivery at www.usps.com you will know when the letter comes right before because you get an email from the post office showing your mail for that day.  My letter came on Saturday (yesterday).  So you should probably get yours Monday or Tuesday.  Hope that helps

thanks, I signed up for informed delivery just now.  Do we have to enter a zipcode or any info for special mail we are expecting?  Or does it just list ALL mail delivered each day?

We are in Hawaii, so it would be nice to know when letter came....

You will be able to see a picture of all of the letters that you will receive each day.

Soccermom19, thanks so much for that info!!! My daughter left on 6/28 and I received her box on Wednesday, 7/5.  I counted out the 9 Fridays like it says in the PIR group and came up with 8/25.  IDK, I wish we would get that letter so we can make plans.  And, I really hope it's not 9/1 since that's Labor Day weekend and plane tickets will be soooo expensive last minute like this. :(  I have not received a letter so I'm praying it comes Monday or Tuesday!

So, with Southwest can you purchase the cheaper Wanna get away prices and still not be charged for any changes?

Happy Sunday everyone!

If you sign up for Alaska airlines credit card...they have a special now for new members.  YOu pay ONLY tax on the companion fare.   For us, that would save hundreds.

But, we are fortunate we have a daughter whom is a flight attendant , so we may go standby.

Mine left on the 27th and I still don't have a letter. Got the box on Wednesday but that's it!

Im still waiting for form letter too, my son left June 29.  I'm hanging in there, but its been 12 days.  He is my only child, and his departure was abrupt.  We waited 6 months for FBI clearance, but then we found out on friday that he was leaving the next wednesday.   Hard to adjust to him leaving so fast............

So a letter would be wonderful.

Tearful Tessa

You guys, I got my letter!!  My daughter left on 6/28.  I will tell you the letter was post marked 7/6 and I received it today, 7/10.

PIR Date 8/25/17

Ship 11 Div 264

Everyone should be getting them this week!  Best feeling I've had since she left. :) Have a good week everyone!

I'm happy for you!

Still no letter and to top it off I received an email from the Admin Asst at his High School that she got his mailing address before I did! I'm happy that she wants to write him, but feel heartbroken on how I got it. Maybe it's all these dang emotions!! Are they required to mail the form letter or is up to them? See now I'm thinking too much!

@soccermom19, I signed up with usps several months before he left just because we have mail theft and I check it everyday. My heart is just sad as I don't understand why its taking so long.

HI Alicia,

We both are the only moms with NO letter yet.  I'm thinking our boys maybe in same division?  I hear sometimes the mail takes longer with divisions whom the mail carrier/sorter that is being trained doesn't have his job training dialed in yet.  At least that is my hope.   It's killing me that I can't write my son, and his bro's are getting letters and no letters for him to open.

I worry about him being bummed out because of lack of mail.  Our kids need our support.  But, no address=no letters.  I am beside myself hoping all is well.

But they say, no news is good news.

Hi Tessa,

There is another mom here in Arizona that her son left the other day and she has not received a form letter yet either. We got the address from the recruiter, however it does not have his division listed so that makes me a little worried that if I started mailing the 20 plus letters they won't get to him. I also noticed that with his possible PIR date that information has not been updated either. 4th of July is probably to blame, but GEEZ! LOL! So impatient right now. Yes, no news is GREAT news, but still want to send our boys some dang letters, Ha!
