For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Received an unexpected and much anticipated phone call today!!!
My son called earlier today. I wasn't expecting him to be able to call yet being that this coming Tuesday will be 3 weeks he's been there. It was only for 10 minutes but wow! I feel so much better that I got to speak to him. He says everyone there is sick and he's only getting 4 hours of sleep a night. He sounded sick but he was so excited to talk. We both had so much to say and it wasn't enough time but my heart is overjoyed to hear his voice and know he is still in good spirits despite how he's feeling or what he's facing. Also he passed his swim test!!!!

My son just called this evening, I was so happy until ---- he sounded horrible. He could not speak 5 words without gasping and coughing. He said he has been sick since day 2 and that A LOT of the recruits are sick----flu like, stomach bug and even pink eye. Apparently this is very common. He seemed to be in good spirits as well, even made a few jokes. He did pass all of the tests so far, however he doesn't know how he did it because he feels so ill and the run test was right after he had 6, yes he had 6, wisdom teeth pulled. I feel so bad that I can't bring him some hot soup and cough medicine to make him feel better.

nadia620, yes, it is very common for many of the recruits to have some form of Ricky Crud due to all of the germs coming in from all over the US and beyond even though they receive a shot or pills to reduce the effects of those germs. Wow, 6 teeth removed! Poor guy. He would have have at least two days SIQ and one day of LLD after they were removed before returning to training (including being tested on the run). Hopefully he and his shipmates will be feeling better by the next time he calls.

So Glad you Ladies heard from your Loved Ones, sorry to hear how sick they both are. but this is Normal as LemonElephant mentioned. But 6 Teeth OUCH! Hoping for speedy recovery for Both SR'S.

Awwww! This is great inspiring news! So haooy to hear you both heard from them! My boyfriend left today and it has been Hell. I myself being prior service can testify that its much much harder on this end of the process...I recall being too busy and too tired to really embrace the emotions. Being family and stuck in a life without them when they have always been there is brutal. Idk how ill make it for BC, ASCHOOL AND DEPLOYMENT. ..:/

Boot camp is the hardest because you go so long without knowing anything. A school is much easier because you can Skype FaceTime text and talk more.
