Has anyone else’s loved one left today for boot camp?! My daughter left a few hours ago and I have the biggest knot in my stomach lol. She told me she would text when she lands and she doesn’t want to call for her “I’m here” call but praying she changes her mind!

I understand that you want that call from her, but honestly imho that call isn’t a nice one... I refer to it as his “hostage call” it was his voice, but it didn’t sound like him. Lol! You could hear the stress and he was super rushed, they just say what they are suppose to and hang up. There was no conversation.
My advice is to text your last bit of love and support to her. Keep the phone close in case she does call but don’t be too disappointed in that call if you get it! Be strong and keep yourself busy, take care of yourself, boot camp is hard for moms too!
Blue Mom thank you. I think the way I’m feeling the text would be better all around lol

Tina,  I don't think they have the option to not call.  I believe that is sort of an order.  It is short and sweet.  Did you get the call?

Yes!! I got the call last night at 10pm. It was definitely nice to hear her and she souunded good.
My son left yesterday morning also. Didn't get to Chicago until after 11 last night and called at about 1:30 this morning from boot camp. He sounded terrible. How are they supposed to make it two more days without sleep? And still pay attention to what they are being told to do? And physical things on top of it. I can't imagine. I am so scared for him. I understand you hoping your daughter changes her mind, but that's a decision that I'm afraid may follow her all her life. I think I'm more afraid of my son just cracking under the stress of exhaustion. He was already concerned about failing, has such a low self-esteem, and if he gets kicked out...that could just totally send him over the edge.

I know I am praying every day that she is able to handle this. Her fiance just recently passed away (2months ago) and she will be devastated if she doesn't make it through. She has wanted to do this for a very long time. Praying for our SR and and all of them. She called me at 10pm last night and sounded very scripted and then hung up. Of course I had to talk over her to tell her I loved her and was so proud.

KindredSpirit Welcome to Navy Moms, I am sorry that your Son is feeling or stressing about those things. He needs to focus and get all negativity out of his mind. I will pray for him, and please be strong for him, let him know he can do it with determination. BC is hard not all things come easy. I think he will do just fine stay positive! if there is anything I can do for you please let me know. and welcome.

The prayers are all I can ask for right now. They mean so much. He said something about sending his address. How soon does that come?

KinredSpirit here is info on the form letter they have changed it up, this will have his address.

here is some info on changes to Form letter that was put togeher by Hooyahsuzy great information.

When to Expect Your Form Letter

Son is in same group as yours, and I did get a call around midnight from a very scared/stressed son, who is normally very chill and relaxed. He read 4 short sentences then said bye and hung up. NOt in his character at all, so i got on internet to see if that was normal, and apparently it is .  Just i was thinking he wouldn't be fazed by things i had heard previously .....but i guess no kid is immune. Wasn't worried till that phone call!  LOL Good luck with yours.

Hi my daughter sounded the same. It lasted about 15 seconds. I have had a huge knot in my stomach all day. She wants this more than anything. I need to stop googling things it is making me a wreck. My daughter trained for awhile before she went in but so worried about her not running in time. I have read about a few missing it by a few seconds then get sent home. Pray to god they all do great.

Tina, I think we all kind of felt the same way at the very beginning but it starts to feel a lot better once they start writing & calling. Im glad your daughter trained before leaving so that she can do well. Once you start writing to her send encouraging words my son loved receiving letters & drawings from his younger cousins. They really look foward to receive mail. Will keep both of you in my prayers :)
