Hi, it’s only been 7 days since my daughter left for boot camp and I can’t imagine how
I’m going to make it 8 more weeks without seeing her. Her box just arrived and seeing her stuff makes me miss her even more. Any one else have a recruit that shipped on May 23 or anytime really, just wondering if others feel as sad and lost as I do. I’m happy to have found this group!

Hi Phoenixmom,

I replied to your original response yesterday, but it doesn't look like it went through, I was trying to send it from my phone. Thanks for your reassurance and info, I appreciate it! Good to know you made it through, so it is possible LOL.

Hi Rose, you are welcome and you also will be on many Journeys with your Daughter, It is such a good feeling when they are happy doing what they are trying to achieve. My Son has already went on one deployment and has seen so many places. his happiness is what keeps me going. You to will find your place in all of this. and it does get easier believe me. if you are needing anything please reach out to me ok. have a Great Day.

Hi Rose, I'm with Phoenixmom , I was a total mess to. Our son left on may 8th and I felt so many emotions and was all over the place. Not only have I drove my husband insane but our teen daughters to. Finding this website was an absolute blessing. It has helped me in so many different ways. Like giving my husbands ears and nerves a break..LOL!  I read and re read and find new information all the time. And the others here are such great support and will point you in the direction you need to go for information. I pray that you find the comfort that we have using this website.

Hi Tabitha,
Thanks for the response! Yes, I’ve been doing the same thing, watching utube videos about boot camp and the Navy and reading AND re reading everything I can find. I have been trying to focus on graduation (praying she makes it) it seems to help a little, at least it gives us something to look forward to. I even bought my dress yesterday LOL! I haven’t slept well this last week wondering if she’s hungry, cold, hot, tired, sad, etc. I pray she stays strong! This is by far one of the hardest things I’ve dealt with, it’s a different kind of pain unlike any I’ve experienced yet, can’t really compare it to anything. Well you guys know how it feels, everyone else just tells me “she’ll be fine”, they don’t get it.

I so agree with you, people don't get it at all. I was reading another post on her where phoenixmom was saying., "People don't get it, until they go through it." Which is so very very true. It's nothing wrong with preparing yourself and getting your dress NOW. I think that is so awesome. :) I will tell you this and from what I do know, she is in one of the best places she can be. She is not hungry, they eat three times a day and from what it seems, they feed them good. She may be feeling tired and a little sad, especially if she has never really been away from home. Our son had never been away from home, at least not this far. But just remember to keep your letters upbeat, inspire her, and encourge her. Stay positive and also another hard pill to swallow for us moms, but it is really is very true, "No News is good news!" Keep praying and don't forget to pray for yourself to. I also agree with you, this is not like any other pain, I have ever felt. But it does get better.

Tabitha,

I sure hope the food is good, my daughter is such a picky eater. Yes, she has never been away from home before for more than a day or two and NEVER this far. I have not started writing yet, still awaiting the address but when I do I will DEF keep my letters upbeat and inspirational, as hard as it will be to hide my sadness from her. I slept better last night after replacing my pillow with hers, I couldn't even go in her room before so...some progress LOL.

Rose,

I know what you mean, I had a really hard time the first two weeks and even the third week. I kept seeing our teen daughters with some of our sons shirts on and I'm like what are you doing? You can't wear his stuff without asking him. LOL! Progress is always good. All we can do is day by day. I have been praying for you and your daughter. It does get better, and the rewards are even sweeter. Being able to see our young ones full fill their dreams.

Thanks lemonelephant  : )

Hi Trish,

I bet our kids are in the same group, she shipped on 5/23, but was at MEPS on the 22. That's a good idea to write a little daily and I never thought of it that way but it def helps thinking she's where she wants to be!

My son was just sworn in. It's a sad and proud day for me. He was originally set to ship out the day after Memorial Day but not shipping until today May 31st. An emotional week

AWE CL4CJ,

I was right there in your shoes last Thursday around this time so I know exactly how your feeling. The ladies here are right, it has gotten a little more "tolerable" but still hurts. Those first few days I cried nonstop, now its more intermittent LOL.
