For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Once she checks into A school, she puts in a special request chit to "Live Ashore" and has to finish a packet. They will help her guide you through the move, there's a checklist for her to complete. Altogether, it takes about a month to get you there and settled, although some spouses opt to just move up there as quick as they can. Depends on whether you need a packout of household goods or not.
I don't know if there are any AECF spouses active on that group, but you can ask. I'm on there and it is pretty sleepy right now. I was an ET, but active duty quite some time ago.

If you are prepping for a move, get your paperwork organized, tune up your vehicle if you are driving, begin the sell-toss-donate declutter process. The move will be on you before you know it, start prepping. If you are doing a DIY you may begin packing, but if you will have a professional packout, do not pack, let them do it or you void the insurance.
You can begin looking for apartments or potentially live on housing which is very near base. She could walk if she had to. If she is late to class or duty, they can rescind her live ashore! Usually for a short time, but it sucks. You can even call housing and find out is you can get on the wait list (if they currently have one) or not at this time. Be sure you get a copy of her orders from the recruiter if possible (not sure how they do that now with the CAC cards).
