Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Daughter leaves for BC on November 7th.
She will be there for Thanksgiving, her birthday, Christmas and New Years. Will this delay her graduation date? Very sad to think that she will not be with family for those holidays.

Just joined and saw your post. My baby boy leaves tomorrow, Nov 7, as well. I have been a sobbing mess. We have a lot of other family factors going on but the idea of him leaving is hurting my heart.

Just joined too and my baby boy leaves tomorrow 11/7 as well! This is scary, awesome, and heartbreaking for sure. Just wanted to say hello and lend a prayer to you all and your sailors. So thankful a customer told me about this site. I have a ton of reading to do!

Prayers for all of us. I am absolutely lost with all the acronyms and terminology. I am just a mom trying to figure out all these things along with all the feelings. I have not heard from him since we said our goodbyes last night at his hotel. My youngest son is taking this just as hard as me. They are so close.

My baby boy just arrived in Chicago. He's 20. LOL. I am trying hard to be as excited and proud as he is. Waiting for him to call. So glad I found this site.

We are in the same boat my son left on the 7th got the call early morning on the 8th , he will be there for all the holidays and his birthday definitely interested in the adopt a sailor program we are originally from Chicago and I have a lot of family in the area . That would be great if they could see him for the holidays maybe adopt some of his other recruits

The adopt a sailor is for those recruits who are within 2 weeks of PIR on either Thanksgiving or Christmas. If your recruit just left they will most likely not be eligable since they only have 2 or 3 weeks in for Thanksgiving and 6 or 7 weeks by Christmas. (You may get lucky for Christmas). If they stay on base they have Sunday routine. Keep your phones handy with the ringer on loud because they may get a chance to call home that weekend. There are too many recruits and not enough phones for all of them to call on a single day but over the 24th, 25th & 26th you should hear from them. Send lots of love, cards and letters, but no glitter, musical cards or confetti! No care packages or cash money either. Theft happens.
Be proud of your kids. You raised the 1% who are willing to defend the 99%! -

julesmtu, if your recruit passes the initial run portion of the baseline PFA, then PRI will be 01/04/2019 and he will be eligible for the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program. If he passes it on the second try or if something happens, then he will not be in that TG and will have extra weeks.

My son left on the same date. He also will be at BC for holidays & my birthday. The PIR is still Jan 4. I can’t wait. I am hoping to pick him up for Christmas also for a few hours as I will be south of Chicago the next day. I figured one day early would be amazing to see him and encourage him. I saw pics from the adopt a sailor for Thanksgiving & I think if she does that for Christmas it will be great. Also she will most likely get to call you that day as I saw all SR calling home in pics!
