OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thanks so much....

If you need any help you will get much needed from everyone, send me a message if I can help. Make sure he takes his cell phone and he keeps it charged, that is how he will make the I'm Here call as they do not have phones for them to use. From what I am Hearing don't bother with a calling card as he will be able to purchase his own at the NEX. The Box it comes Fed Ex and needs to be signed for or a ticket will be left for pick up or maybe another delivery attempt. here is another site on how he will get paid.

When Will the Recruits be Paid? and Information for Spouses

Thank you I appreciate the info....

Hey hun! To start with, send him off with a book of stamps and envelopes. Money for food at the airport(there may be a USO) Minimal personal items because they will be shipped back to you in the "kid-in-a-box"(new level of ugly crying there). ID and Social Security card are vital. If you haven't yet, watch the YouTube videos of bootcamp arrival to gird up your loins to what your child will go through. Expect the form letter to let you know what division he will be assigned to and follow the directions to make sure he gets your letters.
The weeks will fly by, so make sure to plan your trip to PIR as soon as you know the date. Remember this name: Sarge. He will be your PIR guru.
Geraley

Thank you so much...wondering will he be keeping his wallet with him or will it be sent home in "The box"???

THEY KEEP WALLET

Hey there! Have you received your box yet?

You are welcome!
My SR was told to bring a direct deposit form from his bank for his pay unless he wanted to open a new account. Other than that, I think the other moms covered what the SR can bring.

You can also go to bootcamp.navy.mil and you can go to the dropndown menu and click on recruit. It will give you pdf forms for what to bring and what not to bring along with what phoenixmom already  has linked.  I would link it but I’m not very tech savvy!  Making a Sailor videos is a must watch!
