Hi Parents!

My son arrived at Great Lakes yesterday. I'm looking to connect with other parents whose recruit did, as well. My daughter is in the Navy - over 5 years now - and our parent group during her time at Grear Lakes, was wonderful.

My son arrived 12/17

Hi. My son arrived yesterday as well. What a long emotional day! Got our phone call at 11:30pm.

It was 10:30 my time when he called. I bet you were like me; waiting with that phone next to you :) My daughter's been in over 5 years now. Time has flown by, but I remember how slow time moved when she was at Great Lakes.

How is it different the second time around? I am sure not much easier as you now have two to worry about.  This is totally new to us, also hard that it is over the holidays.  I keep reminding myself that they have the hard part:)!

This site was so helpful to me. It prepared me. I knew what my recruit was doing before she did, so I feel better this time around. As a parent though, it's never easy to let them go. I also follow the Navy Recruit Command's page on Facebook. They posted pictures of recruits arriving. Sadly, my son wasn't in any of them, but you should take a look and see if yours is.

That's good to know, I will check it out. Hope you get his address soon to start those letters. Ours are on the table anxiously awaiting where to be sent.

I just received my son's box. That was way fast.

My sons box arrived also.  Its a dark feeling getting a box if your sons things.  Hoping that letter comes fast.  I am wanting to send letters

I know, it does feel odd. I've already written 2 letters. Just waiting on the ship/division info :)

AlwaysBeeKind, welcome to the next part of the journey. Next up, "the box."

Check your My Page.

 Thank you. I saw that.
