My son’s date to leave for boot camp was Sept 9. He got a call yesterday about going sooner. Like in a week! Freaking out here! Need to plan a party, need to get him ready, worried he isn’t physically ready yet, ... Yikes

Hi MamaScha - Just so you know he doesn't have to agree to go sooner - he can wait for his original ship date.  His recruiter might push him but if he's not ready he should wait!  They will go down the list and call recruits until someone agrees to go early - but again, it doesn't have to be him!  Be sure to join the boot camp group (I left the link in the Welcome message on your page).  Also join the September DEP group:

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Sets New Physical Fitness Standard to Start Boot Camp. "The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes seven seconds for female recruits."

Hi Mama Scha, I have been there where you are at. My Son Graduated in May of 2017 he was suppose to leave that Nov. well a  few weeks of Graduating he received a call and they were wanting him to leave soon Like July 5th to be exact. so We also had to hurry and Plan. we had a Graduation/Going away Party at the same time we decorated Half High school and Half Navy it turned out awesome. A suggestion I had a Chalkboard and I made a Box with Navy colors and had everyone put a scripture or some kind of Encouragement note and put who it was from and address. With this I sent him one or two every time I would write. I have to say I was a Nervous wreck I thought I was ready for this to happen and I really wasn't. If you want to talk I am available in fact I help out on Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). Come join us.

thank you!  I have gone to tears several times today.

I know that feeling all so well Myself Ma'am, in fact the Night of him going to Hotel (swearing in Next Day) I could not sleep and cried. He called me that night and asked me not to cry that he will be fine. I knew he would, it was the thought of my Baby leaving home. Day of The swearing in we drove separate cars, because I knew I would have a Hard time after, I di pretty good until I seen other Mother's Crying and I completely lost it. I'm not trying to make you sadder, it truly is a very Proud Moment. Just you know how us Mother's get......Please know he will be fine and well taken care of. This will be the Most Wonderful thing he can do for himself. My Son going on Two Yrs. July 5th and going on his second deployment. Just know the worry never ends but we get stronger in the process.
