Is it really October already?!  Hard to tell with these temps.  But I'm not going to complain because we'll be freezing our butts off in the mitten soon enough!  Big hello's and hugs to all you Michigan moms!

When our son went to MEPS we were allowed to go over the night before and take him out to dinner. He did have to report back in for a briefing and ended up hanging out with the other recruits the rest of the evening. It was really nice to see all of them bonding and was a huge comfort for me and my husband. We headed over the next morning for the swear in and were able to have a quick lunch with our sailor before they boarded the bus. Once they boarded the bus we waved goodbye we headed home. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years since this adventure began.

Tracey - glad you got to get that final wave in!  You're almost at PIR - woohoo!

I guess it depends on the different MEPS offices.  When B left for BC (in 2012 out of San Diego) we went the night before, took him out to dinner, met him at MEPS in the morning, took pictures of the final swearing in and followed the bus to the airport.  Got to say one last goodbye there before he went through security.

Thanks Tracey! What was the time duration of the ceremony and boarding the bus? So glad you shared to stay! I’m sure I’ll cherish that extra time also!

When my son takes his Oath and leaves for boot camp, are parents allowed at Troy or the airport to see them off?
