Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

Hi evry1 My son has been a navigator on the USS Tuscon - fast attack - for 4 years, They are stationed in Pearl. We are from outside Chicago WooHoo Hawaii he is talking about buying a boat and living on it ..sounds like a great vacation to this mom..also my 18 yearold is a golfer so he is hoping his bro stays in HI........Although I miss him so ..with cell phones and email he is always in touch..........also while in dry dock he was able to take a class this sumer for periscope photography which seem cool to me.......anyhow give my a shout
My son, Michael is on the Alexandria out of Groton, Conn. He is a CS so I am sure he knows everyone on the boat. He recently got his Dolphins, so is now enjoying freedom from studying. He has been put "in charge" of the Thanksgiving meal. Apparently this is a big deal. He asked for a couple of recipes, which I gave him, but told him he has to do the math. Ha!Ha! This is his first long deployment and the first time he has been away from home for his birthday and the holidays. He said he compacted trash all day on his birthday:( made me sad.
Janice,
My son spent his 19th b-day in the gas chamber at BC, his 20th was spent doing something strenuous at Goose Creek, and his 21st was spent washing dishes @ his current station. It is a wonder that he enjoys the Navy as much as he does.
Wow! It is probably harder on us moms as the sailors have a "job" to do no matter what. I thought I was ready for all of this since my daughter was already off to college, but she can call anytime and come home for the weekend if she chooses. I hope it gets easier.
Hey, Janice! Have you met Kathleen at http://www.navyformoms.com/profile/KathleenSaucier? She's another Alexandra mom. There's also a USS Alexandra group. Welcome! ks.
My son, Brad is a MM assigned to the USS New Mexico. It is still in manufacturing in Virginia so he is temporarily assigned to the USS Boise getting his qualifications. Brad's home is both Washington state and Oklahoma. Eventually the New Mexico is going to be home ported in Hawaii but that is at least a year off, I believe.
My son-in-law is also a submariner assigned to the USS Jimmy Carter. It is a special assignment boat so, from what I understand, my daughter will not have to deal with the 3 month cruises that he has been out on when he was assigned to the USS Ohio. They now get to focus a bit on starting their family.
USS Los Angeles, Pearl Harbor, HI

Charles will be earning his dolphin pin hopefully by the end of January, 2009 - Still in the process of getting Qualified. He is in the ET-Nav program. Being the new kid with his squad has been hard, but is toughening him up. He is enjoying his enlistment. Is learning so much, making lifelong friends where he is stationed. His A-Nav has been a blessing, taking him under his wing and giving him guidance, etc.
My son, Stephen, serves on the SSN 721 Chicago in Pearl Harbor. Any other Mom's for this boat?
Hi Jacquelyn. My son is on the USS Chicago but I don't know about the boat number. My husband thinks this is the boat- He's out of Pearl and he's an ET "nuke" on the boat. What does your son do on the boat? How long has he been on the boat? Mine is still working on his qualls but hope to earn them soon.
My son is on the SSN 721 Chicago in Peal Harbor. I have had the opportunity to visit him once or twice. Once when they just got back from deployment. Im planning on visiting on this return. When did your son join the sub. My son is a MM2 class. yours?
Hi All, My son is stationed on the USS Chicago. We've been able to see him once since he got to his new base and we'll get to see him for a few days a Christmas. Anyone else out there whose son on on the Chicago?
My son is a "nuke" and a MM2 aboard the USS Alexandria stationed in Groton, CT If there are any other Alex moms, we now have an ALEXANDRIA group! Please join! Remember we are TWICE AS STRONG! Kathy
