so...my son passed at meps...now he is just waiting to get a call from his recruiter about a "job"...how long does this take? he doesnt even know what job they are looking for at this point...he wanted air/rescue diver...but we are pretty sure his color blindness rules him out for this...i just don't understand any of this...what if he gets stuck doing something he doesnt want to do? will they make sure that he is placed in something that interests him? are they just gonna call him up one day...and poof he is gone the next?   i am trying to accept his decision to do this..it is just hard being kept out of the loop...this is the first time my son has done something like his on his own, and this is going to change his life for years!!! i just want him to be happy....

Hi All. My son just picked his job, Damage Control. I was surprised. he said it was the best of what they offered. (wants to be a fireman later in life)Does anyone have any advice on this Damage Control position? From what his recruiter says he has too intern 3 months at a time for each job then he can pick the one he feels best about. He is leaving in August, we expected Oct. I am getting nervous for him. This is going to sound stupid but what if he gets sea sick? Really, will they help him? I have visions of him sick and everyone laughing-Am I ridiculas or what?

Hi everyone,

My daughter was assigned culinary specialist but really does not want to do this.  I do not know what to do to help her.  Or, if I am even allowed to be involved.  She has a new recruiter that I have never met.  She tried three times and passed the asvab on her third try.  I am so incredibly proud of her and support her 100% but I want her to go in knowing she will have a job she might enjoy.  If she has to cook, I don't think she will go.

Any advice is welcome.  Thank you.
