Good afternoon, newbie here. My son goes to boot camp on 8/30 so I am just trying to take this all in. I do have a question regarding Christmas. He will be in A school in Pensacola and I was told he would start leave on the 18th. Is this true or does anyone have any more information about that!

Welcome Tracie! It is true that many of the schools go on "holiday stand down" but not everyone gets to leave. Someone has to stay and hold down the fort per say. His recruiter might be telling him that because that's what he wants to hear. And with covid things have just been all over the place - they get leave then leave is cancelled and back and forth and back and forth. Nothing is certain until it actually happens. Once he finally gets to Pensacola he'll be able to get more information. Until then it's anybody's guess.
Tracie,
B'sNukeMom told it to you straight!! Nothing is set in stone, especially these days with holiday or any other leave time. We have a saying around here - Semper Gumby!! Learning to bend and stay flexible especially with leave time is a necessity as a Navy Mom and even for the rest of the family as well.
I also posted a note on your My Page / Profile page.
I will add that Covid has made planning even more difficult.
My2kidsmom9498_ Hi, I hope you have been doing well. I will pray for you guys as your loved one is deployed. How have you been?
Prayers and hugs to you!!
