Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I know a wog is a sailer that is trying to become a shellback.............crossing the equator, you are a golden shellback is you cross the equator at 0-0............check out my page and see my sons injury from his wog day..........LOL, after all was said and done and he had made it through safely, he slipped and fell in the berthing and split his head open..................silly man...............
OK I just saw your pics............. Alright your son is also a funny guy :) What a sence of humor he has..................Love the pics. (( even the pollywog / shellback one )) Now are there 2 different kinds of shellbacks ? regular and golden .......... Wow I had never heard this before. Cool
I love this not only do we get to know what a word is BUT we may even get tidbits too.

I have another word I have heard before but have not researched it so it may not apply anymore.........
To use it in a sentence is your son going to try to Mustang ?

Hey - I just finished that episode of Carrier so I know about pollywogs and shellbacks now :-) but what is a "golden"
OK My son wants to Mustang .................... tee-hee did research and it still applies.

Mustang ........... An officer that started out as a enlisted sailor Rose threw the ranks :)

And I dont know about the golden part ........waiting to here from Lucie on that one !

What do brown shoes & black shoes mean ?
I know that brown shoes wouldnt be caught dead in black shoes ( so I have heard I just dont know why )
hmmmm...I never seen brown shoes on a Sailor - must get to the bottom of this one!
My guess is it has something to do with ship sailors vs surface sailors. But that is reallly just a guess.
