Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

Hey if we send bikes... think of the fun handlebar streamers, bells and other bicycle 'toys' we can send.... let's be sure to add a couple of combination bike locks... then there are no keys to lose but they would be 'secure'...
Maybe the bikes could be bought online and shipped to the address. Then they would still be in there original box. They would just need to put them together.
Jackie, that is a great idea. Lots of companies ship to APO addresses.
I think you are right Jackie, unassembled from the factory they are in their smallest possible size already.
One of the beach cruiser bikes at Walmart.com is 99.00 and weighs 32 lbs., Would still need to check with post office about shipping a box that size.
just logged on. this is a great idea. My hubby suggest maybe a mountain bike the kind with the fat tires would be good for that terrain.
"...transportation is a big issue (bicycles/MT bikes would be awesome!)" Peggy, I concur with your hubby's assessment of their needs and the terrain. Seems to me that's what our Sailors are hoping for, Mountain bikes and more than one. Wow ladies, no task too large for Navy Moms to tackle! Can't wait to see what we all come up with, and the how!

Safe travels Barbara. Enjoy every moment of your visit. :) Pat, hope that yucky migraine is just a bad memory tomorrow! Take it easy.
Hi all! We had a great time at our Southern Colorado Moms Meet-n-Pack today! We packed up 11 boxes of goodies to send to the Medivac unit in Kuwait. I anticipate lots of smiles on the receiving end! I so enjoyed hosting this event and meeting everyone who was able to come. I would certainly be willing to do it again, anytime! :-) Here is a photo of most of the attendees. A few had to go early, but we loved having them while they were here.

Got your message Shell - give me a couple of days. A friend gave me some great suggestions and just need to make a couple of phone calls and I will let you know what I find out. Anyone else that wants to check out there area please do, the more information we further we can make the money go for the bikes and the shipping.

Carol - thank you for hosting us today it was a blast. Can't wait to do it again.
First box going out for a female.. LOADED seams bursting heehee Tons of Healthy snacks.. Granola bars galore. I got them on sale.. they were 2 for 3.00 PLUS I had a coupon for 1.00 off one.. that makes them... drum rolll please.... FREEEEEEEEE Dont ya love it when they are FREEEEEE Toothpaste.. 2 for 4.00 coupon.. drum roll please... 2.00 off 1 tube.. FREEEEEEE i spent maybe.... 7.00 and the box is bursting with lotions/soaps/granola/peanuts/jerky.. NO junk food heehee
Here's what I found out from the post office. Largest box that can be sent has to have a girth less than 130 inches. Formula for this is...Height plus width times 2 plus length. Or in box size 17X34X17. My next project will be to go to Target, etc. and see if I can find a bike with a 34 inch frame. Postage from my zip here in Chicago suburbs to 09330 for 70 pounds was priority $82.85 or parcel post $45.63. I don't think that sounded too bad, do you? Will update again after I do research on bike frame sizes!! FYI, only way we can ship is USPS for security reasons.
Hi Pat, you are really on the ball this morning. I'm not out of my PJ's yet and already you have every thing going. Need to get my butt in gear or by lunch ya'll will have a bike bought and mailed.Haha
got to go will check in latter
Peggy
