Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

Great idea big Molly. You may live to regret that dog.....lol You know I love you, girl! Anyway, yes, let's take them to dinner Sunday night? Let me start finding some. We can always take Jackie's son.....now that he's back on base. I'll check my Norfolk group for some names of victims....lol
Gotta go get ready for Navy Moms coffee today! I know Joyce and Lisa will there, can't wait to see who else shows up! You all packed and ready to go?? Pillowcase Sue has a son in Oceana and I'm taking him a box from his mom. He's going to meet me at Norfolk, so there's TWO sailors for dinner.....
Happy Saturday Everyone, Just a heads up that the post office has changed their customs forms. Between last Sat. and this Sat. the forms changed! So much for being proud of myself that I had that form filled out before I went to the PO!!!!
Isn't that always the way Pat? Just when you think you've got it all figured out. Thanks for sharing the information.
thanks Pat. I made and mailed a special pillowcase to Juan this morning. Yes, it had helicopters on it. I had my form filled out, but the PO guy just stuck it on and didn't say anything. I sure hope it goes thru! What's different about them?

Had a great time at the N4M coffee hour this afternoon. We kind of took over part the cafe at Barnes and Noble.
The difference in the form is that now it is little boxes that you put in a letter per box. The only problem that I see is that there are only 4 lines for contents. I don't know about you but I put a LOT of different things in the boxes I send. The woman at the post office did take the form that I had filled out but gave me a bunch of the new ones.
I had the old form then. that's not going to be easy. But a friend gave me a tip last year when Ben's first box had been stolen from in the USPS system-just write baked goods, candy, personal hygiene, books, magazines. just general terms.

I haven't had a problem since. The 1st box I wrote triple chocolate cake, jelly beans, peach muffins, lip balm etc. the cake, jelly beans and lip balm were gone and the box was wrapped by the USPS. he was so disappointed!
I do not put amounts only contents, shampoo, soap, lotions, books mags, toys.
We aren't sending anything illegal. I list t-shirts, socks, sunflower seeds. Every one of them is the same. No break ins so far.
I have a box going out tomorrow---- will let you know if I have any problems --- mainly with Qty's!! Got all kinds of different stuff in the box....
Don't worry Staci... if they throw you in the slammer, we'll all chip in and bail you out!!!!!
I put on my label prepackaged snacks, that can be anything from Oreo's to drink mixes. or candy so far so good
OK ladies, a question--most times I send DVD's and this can go media mail which is cheaper than regular mail. So if I am sending candy and say there are books or magazines in it I can be in trouble? I know there is the flat rate priority box but I haven't sent that many DVD's to fill up the box. I try to send a couple to every group we adopt.
