Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

Pat: I know the PO is sensative about the media rate. If it were me, I stick with all media in those boxes.......just my (very legal) opinion.... :)
When I mailed the first 2 boxes, the woman at the counter wanted amounts after each item and approx. value. With this new form, I'm thinking the post office will be getting general categories from me (ie snacks, hair care, books, etc.) Actually, this is probably a better idea to be more general, decreases the chances of things being lost (Is that politically correct enough?? You get my drift, right?) Don't want to "dis" the post office seeing as how they are getting our stuff to Kuwait so fast.
I agree with Melissa about the media rate thing. I never put down quantities-honestly, never noticed that part. haha. I do place a value, but PO lady told me once to not make it alot. They also have the right to inspect the boxes once they get to the country. So play it safe, follow the rules.

My mistake with the first box is, I didn't use a flat rate box, but a regular brown box that I had at home. I didn't know about the flat rate. I did tape up all the seams, but still it was opened etc. The next box I mailed, I complained to the worker and she didn't charge me for that mailing. That was so nice of her! She also gave me an 800 number to call and report.

And Staci, I can't remember what I put in either. Once I pack those pillowcases, I stuff little things in wherever there is a bit of room. So I don't always know what went in there. So I stick to generalities. And if you get put in the slammer, I'lll make you a pillowcase with a file in it . haha.

My Kuwait contact at church was out sick today. I'll try to get her this week.
Guess I better be more specific. Thanks.
good morning ladies, I have one more box ready to go. Thanks for the packing info. Will do my best to keep it legal Haha.
Did anyone find out what color T-shirt was correct Tan or Sand? Going to Walmart in just a few mins.would be good to know what color to look for.

Thanks
I have sent 2 HUGE boxes media rate so far ---- I am positive that someone had to open those boxes to check. It just was too big for media I figured they would say. I am hoping that they continued on their path to Jan and Feb sailors. Thats the only thing that bothers me about Media rate--- the difference in price was crazy enough I had to do it -----60.00 compared to 10.00 :) I never wrote what was in their just the word *media*
Ugggggggg
Well I sent a box today not as big as Molly's, but it was stuffed.
Okie dokie ladies, my box is on its way! pre packaged snacks, magazines, t shirts, (tan & sand), kerchiefs, hand & toe warmers, suncreen, chapstick, and lots of love. xoxo mom stew
Oh Mom Stew where did you find the T-shirts?
I checked the thrift store and found some books in real good condition. They will go next.
I found my tan and sand at Wal Mart. I think they're similar in color. I checked with a Iraqi Freedom Army Mom and she said they were both acceptable. I know that's Army but she did say "yes, they're tan & sand." Okie dokie. I believe they were Fruit of the Loom. You know, I "un-packaged" everything so I could squish in more stuff. x0x0 mom stew
Central Florida moms had our get together SAt..here are some of the boxes.....and pics...coming your way..
