DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

What is your advice?

"One thing I do recommend, if it's all possible. Be sure to try and attend their graduation. You send the Navy a teenager, and the next time you see them, they have grown and matured, and you will be in utter awe. I wish I could re-meet his company commander and tell him about the most astonishing young man that they helped on his way. He's gone from the obnoxious teenager to a man that is so very proud of his leadership skills and knowledge. The Navy was the best thing for him, and it's amazing to see the transformation over the years." – Jean Cabral

They are sailors! they usually just go by the last name after that
I noticed a post recently that said the mom was keeping her cell phone with her at all times to make sure she didn't miss her son's call if/when he got the chance, but they the cell could not accept a collect call so she missed it anyway. I just wanted to point out that you can send your recruit a prepaid phone card so that they do not have to call collect. Kyle has one with 300 minutes on it and more can be added whenever it gets low.
Where do u recommend staying while you go to the graduation?
Ladies- there has been many threads on this already. Type in hotels in the seach button and you will every convo and comment on it. Sincerely, Catherine
hehe Morning Karen. I think you might be on to something ... I have a list of stuff to go over with my cohorts today and tomorrow (from the weekend). And I will bring this up also. :) Sincerely, Catherine
Don't quote me on this, but I've seen more than 4 people in one family attend graduation. Write Evan a letter and as him to find out whether it will be an issue, or if he can get you more tickets.
Theirs no actual ticket. Evan can only write 4 names that will be put on a list. They check your name off as you go through one of the check points.(2nd one I believe). But the letter you will get in the mail about PIR will say if there is room they will let "walk in" guest in. I cant remember at ours they started letting the walk ins go in 15 min or 30 before the start.
LOL Catherine
It is getting a little overwhelming here at times :) BUT you got to love it !
I can just see you running around from place to place......... LOL
Sorry but I just had to laugh !
hehe, :) I know I know. I feel my brain is running a 10K sometimes. But it's all good. :)
Ok this is one of those staple places I come for advice since the day I started coming here.
So here goes:
I know I am being paranoid, but what if A school is too hard for your child to do ?
I mean how do they know that Colton has the brain for electrical work ?
I have heard that it is mostly self study on the computer. BUT do they have people who will help if you are not getting it ?
What happens if you fail out ? If there even is such a thing as failing out ?
I know that those who attempt to be Seals some dont make it because it is so demanding. What happens to those kiddo's ?
Teresa,
I love the roots & wings.
And man did you peg that one perfectly.
