HI Shell, I'm Tina. My son Jason was in DEP for nine months before going to boot camp in Jan. We leave Thursday 28th his 19th b'day for graduation. He will be leaving for Nuke also. So if you have any questions maybe I can give you a heads up. Everyone says the Nuke program is the way to go. The hardest thing about waiting so long to ship out is the waiting and the dreading on the last day you will be able to see them. Good Luck.
My name is Kim and I'm a wife and mother of 5 boys. Our oldest, Kyle, enlisted recently and is halfway through boot camp.
Welcome, WOW 5 boys. You got a lot of testosterone at your house. PIR is great you will be so proud!!!!!!
My name is Donna and I have 2 sons. My youngest son leaves for boot camp this Thursday Feb. 28 2008 and I already miss him. My other son has been in the Marines now for 3 1/2 years with 1 1/2 years to go. Just when I thought my oldest son might be coming home soon, here goes my youngest...
Hi I'm happy mom. This is my 1st time on the site. My son (baby) left home in August, for the 1st time. He now appears to be so grown up. I never thought I'd see that. He's training now for his specialty and loves every minute of it.
Hi Happy Mom. Nice to meet you.
Thanks for the welcome. I've had time to adjust to being childless but I still miss him. My Bryan was always a good kid. But now he's a man. I didn't think i was ready, but he still lets me be his mom, even long distance. :)
He's even more appreciative, and I'm even more patient.

Food luck
Happy mom
Hi my name is Amy {Rjsbrattt} my daughter Nicole joined the Navy 1 year ago today. Soon as she turned 18 she joined and was in the DEP program til she left for bootcamp August12 07. It is hard at times, I try to keep busy. Today is her birthday and I am really missing her badly. I am so proud of my daughter. She will be flying to FL this coming Sunday to go to ABH school. after that, i have no clue what the Navy has in store for her. I also have 3 other children. my son Nick who is 20, a son Blaze who is 17 and my youngest Catherine who is 13. I live in NY and can't wait for the snow to stop...LOL Nice to meet you all and talk to you soon.
Hugs, Amy
PNM of Nicole
I Amy, nice to meet you. Can't wait to hear more about your daughter and how florida goes.
Hi my name is Linda
My boy Cameron left for boot camp 4 days ago. Haven't heard from him and its very hard. I received his clothes today and had a bit of a melt down. I miss him so much and wonder how he is doing. I have a feeling he is holding up better than I am. I have read all of the discussion and that gives me so much comfort that I am not alone.
Linda, my son left on february 4th -- almost 3 weeks now. i know exactly how you feel. that box of belongings is the toughest part. i also knew it was coming but when it did i had a complete meltdown. his room is just as he left it only i started making a shrine out of it with pictures all over. his younger brother wants to have his room now as a second bedroom but i insist on keeping it the way it is so my son will always have his room to come home too. i only rent but i swear if we move there will be one room extra always for my son, kris.

anyway i got two really short letters now. it took a whole 2 weeks before i got one and it was only a couple lines. believe me, your son is holding up better than you.... and so is mine. i got second letter today telling me he got his 2 wisdom teeth pulled and was on bedrest for 2 days and is was "sweet" he says... im sure cause of the 2 days of bedrest. but, i first was like, oh my god, he had to go through that without me and i want to take care of him.... things that he said about hating it the first few days and how things are getting much better now really gives me hope. i know he is in better hands. at home he never had to fold his clothes, etc.... my god, he is learning. i really think this will turn out to be the best decision he has made in life. i wish your son the best... patti cole
Hi Patti,

My son left 2/4 also. I just got a letter a couple of days ago that they pulled his wisdom teeth. Wonder if they did them all on the same day? LOL
