Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

Update on Michael Sheppard from Denise Holland: I am looking for anyone that is in Norfolk area and in Richmond. As some of you know my son was in the motorcycyle accident in July. Still in the Naval hospital in Portsmouth he is feeling soso very lonesome. I was just wondering if there was anyone out here that has the time to look in on him. Someone that could take maybe a magazine or too to him. Maybe even a milkshake. He has a girlfriend there but she often forgets to take things to him. I will pay for anything that is taken to him. The care he is getting at the hospital is ok. They don't do very good about keeping him clean. He skin is pealing very badly. I do know that it is because he hasnt been abule to take a real shower in 40 days as of today. I called the charge nurse last night and told her that it isnt ok for him not to be clean. I forgot to check to find out how often his bedding is changed.
He has been in the Navy for 11 years and some of you new Navy moms that have question maybe he can help you. He really is a wonderful person to talk too.
Once he gets to Richmond he will not have any visitor until the weekend when is GF can get up there. If there is anyone that know anyone that could help her in getting a place to stay over the weekends that wouldnt cost her a whole lots. Like everyone else they have bills and money is tight. It will be so hard for her to go there every weekend. With gas and food and a motel. I dont think she will be able to go every weekend. I dont want her sleeping in the car. Most of the time I am sure she will be taking her 8 year old son.
If there is anyone out there that can help please email me. As I said I will make sure that I send to money for anything you do.
Thanks so much for reading this.

A seabee's mom
Brenda Sue and Denise... have her check into the availability of Fisher House in Richmond. The Fisher House is run by a foundation and offers free rooms to families. We have a Fisher House here in Washington State and I know that they offer wonderful care for the families there. It would be a place that both she and her son could stay and they have a kitchen for food, laundry facilities, etc. As far as his car can you call the hospital and inquire about the care??? I am shocked that his care is lacking. I have been so so impressed with the care at the local VA...
I posted this in the Norfolk moms room, plus sent it to John and Yvonne Wagner who is a retired Navy chaplain. They do great things with the sailors there. I also sent it to another woman, Shannon, who also does alot for our sailors.

Does Richmond have a Ronald McDonald house? That might be a possiblity too,
Brenda,
I'll take Michael his milkshake tomorrow evening. It's the least we can do for him.
Theresa!! How awesome of you!! I wish I lived closer to be able to do anything like that. I am going to contact Denise and find out what kinds of magazines he is interested in - I can mail him those!
Brenda,
you know if you lived near a navy base you would have to quit your job to become the bases full time "mom ambassador". :))
Another Injured Marine: Waiting for address - but here is the story!!

Wanted to let you know. Sis's grandson (Kim's son) was injured in Afghanistan last week. I understand his group
got out of a car and landed on a land mine. We don't know how serious but we know he is alive. He was transported to Germany and will be coming to States to the hospital. Maryland or Virginia. I am not sure. The best we have found out is his femur bone was broken, his arm and shoulder broken and he has shrapnel in his chest, his lung was punctured and on and on. So, we don't know for sure just how he is. The Marines will fly Kim and Paul to the hospital when Aaron gets there. I understand Kim got to talk to him but he cannot talk back because of all the tubes. The nurse told her he heard her because he had tears rolling down his face. We are all just grateful he is alive. Will let you know more when we hear.

Update: Kim and Paul are now with Aaron in Virginia. He had surgery on leg and arms yesterday. Got the tubes out. Still pretty broken up but is awake.
He is being held in my prayers tonight! Will watch for the address!
Theresa ---- OMG I love that you are willing to do that for Michael. What a great Mom you are :) Ambassador ? GREAT IDEA !!!
Love this Special Hugs room ---Just love it. This room is is Brimming with more love then any place Ive ever seen.
When the chips are down Navy Moms come threw.

This seems so silly to ask in THIS room -the room that shows you your tiny problems are nothing compared to those in real need BUT if I may humbley ask
Needing all good thoughts and well wishes going tword this little group of ours today~~ Keep fingers crossed and/or pray for the strength and guidence for me to be able to show the lawyer what WE are all about and that by being a non-profit would only benifit the sailors more. This place is run with such good hearts & good intentions.
Ok Moms wish me luck ---
I will let everyone know an update either tonight or tommarrow.
Whew ---we can do this. Come on Luck ---sailors need a new pair of shows (toss the dice someone)
Molly, "Luck" is when "preparation" meets "opportunity." Okay, you have spent a year preparing for this minute and now you have the opportunity to shine. I pray the lawyers have the good sense to see it! One of our problems is logistics! We are spread out all over the place.
Yes, but thank God we are connected by the internet and not snail mail any longer! YIPPEE!!! :)
OK Molly what are you doing LMAO...remember RELAX!!!!
Please moms go and read the blog on the NAVY pilot, remains returned to family.......
