For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Yup, I promise! But we need to get through Oct and Nov. first. Well, maybe just Oct. My son should be coming home some time in early Nov. 8 months is a long time and I haven't seen him since January.

Well, I now have an idea of the goal we will be shooting for in our Christmas Scarfs. So, I'm putting out the call to let you all know that our goal will be between 200 and 300.

My mom knits; so when I visited her this weekend, we went to Joanne's and picked up some yarn; she said she'll do some. I've started crocheting (haven't done it in many years) and I have a provocraft loom, so I'm going to try that.
Do they have to be 60 long?

Yes, 60 inches seems to be what works best. I'd rather they were an inch or two longer than any shorter than the 60".

I am hoping that I am able to find that crotchet tool that allows you to cheat on making them..... otherwise it will take me a year to just do one. I plan on shopping for it tomorrow. I will also attempt to recruit a couple of my relatives to assist in this project.

I picked up my loom yesterday and I am already half done with my first scarf. I will be working on them while watching t.v. at night and during my lunches at work. I have also recruited my son's Grandma to help.

I'd like to crochet some scarfs too. What is the deadline for these and where do we mail them once we get some done? I'm not the greatest at crochet, but would love to help with the project!

Molly will give us a mail by date when she has a group picked out. I would have them done before Dec. 1st. You can either mail them to the address Molly gives us or you can mail them to me and I'll put them in my package.

Hi! I am a newby to this group. My son just had PIR 9/18. I want to try to knit some scarves. Is there any particular pattern or needle size? I see the length and width and yarn type info, but wondered aout the actual pattern. I'm a novice knitter, just some hats and I have made other scarves. I will watch for the address to mail to.
