Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

I heard from Pete. He got his pillowcase and really loves it. Actually, he said that he would keep it always. gosh, where's that sewing machine?
He would mean that too Sue! He is really really a sweetheart! Hopng he is feeling well this weekend... I want to take him to lunch!
Molly - I am getting ready to bake some poppyseed bread tomorrow and send to Pete...which got me thinking, since my son won't be getting baked goodie care packages from me and Pete can only eat so many cookies before they go stale, I will have left over cookie dough....are there people I can send cookies to on occassion...nothing fancy, but I gotta do something with the cookie dough...only stays fresh so long in the fridge...

Val
Valeriejean, Think freezer. I keep cookie dough on hand in the freezer. So I always have some and can make lots of small batches to send to the boys.
I'm baking myself on Monday - my boys need some treats! They always manage to eat them all, they are good at sharing. If our Pete gets too much, he can take them to work. Baked brownies keep very well in the freezer. I sent some to my son in Florida, they came back undeliverable and I froze them. He ate them when he was home on leave. Well traveled brownies! How do you package the bread for mailing?
The poppyseed bread is like a cake, so its easy to ship, just wrap it in plastic wrap and make sure its covered
got a beautiful card in the mail from Pete today. I posted it in the HAE room.
Darlene, proud mom of Lawrence, son got off the ship in New Orleans and was robbed and shot in the leg. He is in a hospital there. She lives in Virginia. Also, her uncle just died 3 hours ago.

She called Maggie, who left a blog and forum comments, asking for Prayers and Needing prayers.

Have received two cards and one beautiful pillow case to forward on to Todd Shotwell. I've been in touch with his mom and aunt, and they are so pleased to be remembered with a small Halloween box to cheer him up.

As we get news on Lawrence, please keep it posted. I picture a young, innocent newer Sailor, stepping off his boat in New Orleans, and getting the shock of his life. Plus the loss of an uncle in the story. God be with us all and protect our military and their families.
Carol, I don't think that this has been posted on the Prayer group yet. Will get some more updates
This is about Heath Dickes, the Air Force man who has the cancer:

Sorry about that not letting you know. He is done with treatments and
is going to be stationed now in North Dakota. From what I hear it is
under control at this time. His brother John unit is the national Guard
unit stationed overseas. Their sister got married a couple of weeks ago
and they both were back for that - He had a thank you in the paper for
the letters and cards

so Brenda Sue, looks like we can take him off for now. Thanks everyone for the support.
WOW, a success story! How great is that? Thank you for the update Sue.
