Most of us have been posting discussions segregated by ship and division, but maybe we can get to know each other based on our PIR date--we will all be in Great Lakes on the same weekend.

Made our airline reservations tonight to fly into Milwaukee. It was about $100 cheaper than flying into O'Hare, but funny thing is, we stop in O'Hare anyway?!
Now my parents have to make their reservations and hotel reservations and we'll be all set.
43 days to go ladies!!! Are we all excited????? YAY!!!!
If anyone has a free spot, please let me know! I told Cody to leave his youngest sister off the list because she is 10 and doesn't need to be on the access list. This way he can list one of my parents, and then we just need one spot. Thank you!

Kathleen
No, I can't wait. No phone calls, no letters. (other than the form letter). I am a mailbox stalker. I mail Tim a card every day so I hope he is getting the letters.
My son justin is on ship 10/div 069 and PIR of January 29th unless something goes wrong. I hope to see all of you there. It is nice to know that there is support for this crazy time in all of our lives. I got a letter yesterday thank god.

There is also a group outside the "November Boot Camp Family" for PIR 1-29-2010. I just joined that one too.

Hello Ladies,
We got a letter from Tony today 12/10 and it was dated 12/6/09. I think the letter sounded very positive. He said he is making lots of friends and he is becoming good friends with a couple of them. He said its not so bad as long as you follow directions and keep your head down? He said he learned and changed alot since he has been there and that we are going to be surprised by the changes. Geez, how can the military do in 2 1/2 weeks what I have been unable to accomplish in 23 years?????? He said graduation has changed and that it is still January 29th but he doesn't have the full weekend!!! He said that we only get to spend time with him until 6:00pm on Friday and that by the time he gets off base that it will be 2:00pm. I am so bummed about this. They also told him that everybody ships out on Saturday but nobody knows for sure until a couple weeks before graduation when hey get their deployment papers for A school. Are your children going to A school in Goose Creek and does this graduation info sound correct to anyone? Deb
I'm glad you got a letter. His head down probably means doesn't bring attention to himself. I think the time we get to spend with them depends on wether or not they are grad and go or grad and stay. My son Tim stays at Great Lakes for an additional five weeks so we are hoping to see him a little longer. Haven't heard from him yet but will post as soon as I do. When they are grad and go the November boot camp family said they grad and then fly out shortly afterwards. sorry. I know that isn't what you want to hear. November boot camp could answer your question better I am sure. Renee
Deb, I think if they are shipping out to A school somewhere else, some of them will leave on Saturday, but if they are staying at GL for A school, like my son, they will have to clear out their rooms and move across the street which could take up to 5 hours from what I have been reading. Also, some of them might have watch, and will not get the full weekend. Let's hope things change and you get to spend more time with him. Such a long trip for a couple hours of visiting, but I know I would be happy with that if I had to be in that situation. It's just hard being away from them for so long and we want all the time we can get.
What is your son's ship and division?
Kathleen
Thanks Kathleen, I wonder if that means he is a Grad and Go? I know I probably should be more up to speed on these things. Anyway, Tonys ship is 10 Division 071.
It sounds like it, but it's been so confusing. I heard they stopped doing Grad and go, but then all these Mom's are writing that their recruits are grad and go?
I've been wondering about the Grad and Go thing as well. aldenny, my son Kyle is a Nuke and should be headed to Goose Creek. He was under the impression when he left here that he'd be Grad and Go. In the meantime, I'm still waiting for a real letter. It's a nail-biter, this waiting is.
