Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Pollywogs are those sailors who have yet to cross the equator, once they cross and participate in the "rite of passage" these are "rituals", physical tests (google "Shellback") and you appear before King Neptunes court and you are now a Trusty Shellback. A Golden Shellback is some one that has crossed the equator at the 180th meridian (the international dateline). The whole ritual has tamed down over the years for what will be obvious reasons but it still exhists and never lacks the "wogs". Except for the split in his head after the ritual was all said and done, my son had a blast and is looking forward to being on the giving end the next time.......hehehe

I watched the first several eps of "Carrier." (I love Bird Farm, btw!) I loved the eps I saw and I plan on getting the series. My son was deployed on the USS Hawes, part of the Nimitz group. I asked him what frigates do and he said, "Be cannon fodder for carriers." I scolded him and told him I don't need to hear that! But who'd have the cajones to fire on OUR carriers any way?
