Thank you I am very worried about him and hope that he can make it through this. Thank you.
I am doing ok. Just spoke to him this morning and he will be there another week. He has severe depression and they are working on why. I know he is in good hands at the center he is at I just wish we were closer so I can visit him. I am trying to stay focused on my two other children, work and my fitness training. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Thank You. Kathy
Just wanted to say that you're both in my thoughts and prayers. {{{{navymom50}}}}
Thank You please pray for Kyle too he really needs those prayers.
I'm very sorry your son is going thru this! There is nothing like the comfort and words of his mother to make him feel better! My family and I will pray for Kyle! I hope all turns out Good!
Thank you for all your concerns and support and most of all prayers. I spoke to Kyles doctor today and they are trying to work through the depression and figure out what is causing it. He said they won't let him go back to base until he is A OK which made me feel alot better. Thank you all again.
I'll pray for Kyle. Foryf your part, take good care of yourself. Educate yourself about depression. Two good books:
"The Depression Book" by Cheri Huber and "I Don't Want to Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression" by Terrence Real

Kyle is was release from the facility he was at and was diagnoised with PTSD, Depression and Bi Polar. He is on a medication that is working wonders. However, the minute he go on base they exited him out of the Navy in 24 hours with a honorable discharge and 10 days of medication. No money..... and we are a bit worried. Monday he is going to go to V.A. he has served 2 years and 3 months and hopefully he can at least get meds paid for. Not sure what else he will qualify for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your prayers. Kathy
Kathy, I am not a benefits specialist, but I do work for the VA. Your son should contact the nearest Veterans' Outreach Center (which is a VA agency) and ask for the GWOT (Global War on Terrorism Technician). He/she is the benefits specialist and should be able to inform your son of his options. He could also go to the nearest VA Medical Center or Clinic and ask for the GWOT advocate/case manager.
I too am concerned re: his quick discharge. If they diagnosed him with PTSD, perhaps he should have been medically discharged with a Service Connected Disability which is accompanied by a monthly compensation. He needs to find out. Since he served more than 2 years, he is eligible for medical care at the VA Medical Center. Does he have an "Expeditionary Medal or Ribbon" on his DD214, ie, his discharge papers? In others words, was he deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism? If yes, that will qualify him for more specific benefits. God Bless.
He was Nuke and served on the base for 2 years 3 months as he was waiting to go to a new A school the it all hit. So he did not serve in the war. Thank you I will have him go on Monday to the newest VA Center and ask for help. His doctor is sending all his paperwork to him this weekend. Keep you posted. Kathy
