My fiance is in class 14-10. I got to talk to him for about 5 minutes last night and he's already lost his voice! They have to yell everything at the top of their lungs! I'm in the Navy also and I'm so used to being the one who leaves! I'm the one who has to tell everyone else not to worry, so its really weird being on the other side of it!

He told me not to expect another phone call for 1-2 weeks. I know from reading on here that how often they get to make phone calls depends on their DI's and he said they won't get their DI until Thursday. And the first 4 weeks don't expect to hear a lot. After that they should be able to call more frequently....It still doesn't stop me from taking my phone everywhere and looking at it every 5 minutes making sure I didn't miss a call, lol!
Hello everybody!

My finance is also in the 14-10 class and he called his mom last night. I was a little upset he didn't call me, but I thought maybe he forgot my number. We always just use our cell phones to call each other and never memorized the numbers! I am writing him letters every night and that seems to help with the sadness. I hope he will get them soon. Well, I am happy to see there are other women out there who understand all the feelings we are having. I am praying for their entire class. I know that they will all need each other to get through this. God bless you all!
Welcome to all of 14-10. I can honestly say I could not have made the journey through OCS without this group. I have made some wonderful friends and you will also. My heart truly aches tonight for those of you with your LO's just starting because I still remember that feeling so vividly. With that said before you know it you will be looking back and giving advice and guidance and support to another group. Hang in there, ask any questions and remember your LO's are in all of our thoughts and prayers.
I'm sure we will all need each other to get through this as well. I didn't think it would be this hard, this soon! I'm so used to being strong for everyone else, I didn't realize how much I leaned on him for support until he left. I finally broke and cried my eyes out for a good 15 minutes. I feel a little better! I'm sure I'll sleep like a baby because of it though! If that's true it will be the first good sleep I'll have since he left on Friday!
I know what you mean! I had a little cry session today and felt much better afterwards. I hope you sleep well tonight!
Thanks! You too!
291 Kollmeyer is the correct address.
Ladies, I can tell you the first couple of weeks are the hardest!! Think about it - with cell phones, you probably talked or texted your LO several times a day. You never even thought about how easy it was to get in touch with them. Now you've been totally cut off - you know your LO is undergoing a stressful adjustment to military life, being yelled at, getting little sleep. You are worried about them, if you have kids you have no one to share their care with. Crying is a very logical choice in my mind!!!
It seems to take a turn for the better about the start of week 4. They are adjusting, you are adjusting, and have probably gotten a letter or phone call or two.
Lean on each other here, you'll be a wonderful support for each other! Good luck to you and your LO at OCS.
Thanks dmarie! This site has been super helpful already whether its reading other people's experiences or just being able to vent! Thanks for all the support!
Have you guys started watching your mailboxes yet? My daughter got so excited when the mailman showed up! We both anxiously walked to the mailbox only to be disappointed :-( I know its still soon, but I was just hoping!
Hey!

I haven't started watching yet...I am afraid it will make the days longer :-) Today was a better day though. I was thinking about how blessed we are that they are in Rhode Island and not Iraq. I am about to write another letter!
Hope you had a good day.

My son who rolled from Class 13-10 due to cellulitis has classed up with 14-10 Charlie. His experience in Class H was good and he says that most of the 13-10 rollees have classed up in 14-10 Delta. He is excited about classing up and says that "Throwdown" Thursday starts EARLY in the morning. Hope all goes well for all 14-10ers. Is anyone aware of a Facebook page for 14-10 like the page for Family and Friends of 13-10? I'm excited to be with you and look forward to hearing about you and your LOs experience. Incidentally we're in Wilmington, NC. Remember NNIGN!!
