My son's Recruiter told him about the site : ). ~ kk
My brother is retired Navy and we both are internet junkies, so I figured there would be a forum. Great site, love all the information and activity.

Thanks
Google... Knows everything :)
I found the community through my mom. I think she saw an ad in a magazine. This commuity is truly a blessing. There is so much support here and much information. We are all going through the same journey and it's amazing to have so much support from others.
Comment by jadsmom Hi everyone, I'd posted this comment in every group that I am a member of, hoping to find a solution. Here goes...Is there anyone in this group who did not receive their recruit's box? My son left 01/06/10. I have not read anywhere here of a parent/spouse with the same experience. I had called FedEx, they can't do anything w/out a tracking#, called the recruiter and even the Navy Public Affairs in Great Lakes, no one seems to know. Finally told my son last week and hopefully someone can tell him what to do...Will appreciate feedbacks
I believe the recruit has the option of sending his things home or donating them instead.
They typically travel with the clothes on their back. When our sons box came it was amazing the size of the box and most of it was air and the only clothes were shirt, pants, undergarments and one sock.....go figure.
Saw a tv commercial right before my son signed up. I became a member immediately but did not really participate until he went to bootcamp - then it was literally my lifeline!
I first heard about the site from my mom, who saw something in a magazine. Then my other kids were given a magnet at a community event. The local recruiter had a booth and was glad to give them all goodie bags. He was actually the chief who brought my son home from his MEPS test. (his recruiter was having to pick up recruits on the other end of the state the same day) I love this site. We are a giant support web and I don't feel alone out here now.
I was googling (however you spell it) info. on the navy and the N4M site was there. I'm so glad to have found this. There is alot of good info. and help on here. Thank you so much!
I got the site from the recruiters office on my first visit there
I googled Navy to find this site and boy am I glad I found it!! I am also happy that other family members are allowed to join. After my Saillor's PIR, I delivered homemade treats to his recruiter and gave them this info. to pass out to the families of their deppers.
Hello Elizabeth and Colleen,
I search the web in great hopes to find information about the Navy. In doing so I learned a great deal of information I never dreamed possible. I educate myself to support my son, as well as others. Understanding what the US NAVY can do and all they do everyday is simply amazing. I found this site for navyformoms during a search. I Signed up not really knowing what I am doing. Just being a part of a group that supports each other just seems very powerful. It's not just a few, it is many who are part of the NAVY. The whole family becomes involved when one joins the service of any branch. These men and woman are all true Saints, and deserve all of our support. Thanks to all; for joining together as one family with many children and parents. Supporting and working together in hope for a great nation. Teddybear
