What a day.  We took our son to the recruiters office  at 0930 today (March 1).  From there he will go to Denver today to MEPS and leave for GL 3/2.  He will be going into the SWCC program.  Is there anyone else out there with me?    Today was an emotional one...I am so proud of him for the path he has chosen and I am so proud of myself for having raised such a wonderful young man.  The next 12 weeks will be lonely, although I am already excited to see the transformation he makes from a young man to a 'Sailor.'  My only unanswered concern at this time is....At PIR, it is my understanding that there are only 4 seats available for his family.  Can anyone elaborate on this for me.  Thank you and good luck to all of you out there.

Thanks Tara. I found it.
My daughter also went to GL on 3/2. I understand completely what you mean by it being an emotional day.
Diania, Where are you from? My most emotional day was yesterday. I was like a water fountain. I do not know if it was just time to let it flow, or if it has all just set in. Strange but true, I cried most of the evening.
I think yesterday was super hard for me as well thus far. Interesting that the pattern of the grief process is similar!
thanks for sharing that....at one point I had to wonder if maybe Devin was having a hard day, and it was carrrying over to me. Now I know it was just a hard day for MOMs and I would rather it be that way. (-: {{HUG}}
Hello everyone-my son left Monday for St. Louis and then on to Chicago Tuesday. I finally lost it on Wednesday evening and have been weepy ever since-so it is nice to know that I'm not just an overemotional mother.
I thought today would be better, but I am still having episodes of sadness. Are you able to talk about your son?
I am better today-I just keep asking my husband: How do you think he is doing? Do you think he is up now? just silly questions. I know he will be fine-this website is great. Especially reading other mom's experiences. I actually missed my son's phone call-he texted me when he arrived in Chicago so I didn't know that he would be calling me. I felt horribly guilty about that. I do however, keep my cell phone on my desk now while I am working and everywhere else while I am at home:)
I am just not talking about him--I stay away from tears that way.
Yesterday I had a terrible headache to match the heartache.
I also, have been glued to my cell phone--just waiting for the recruiter to call with an address. Still nothing. Just checked the mail and no package either. Moe, I shared in your headache also yesterday. I appreciate all of the friendships through this web site.
All of this separation is really hard especially since we have talked to our sons everyday since they were able to talk, thanks to cell phones. Just remember 'NO NEWS IS GOOD NEWS" If you don't hear from him until Week 3 everything is fine, you probably will get a letter from him around the 2nd week - my son has 13 days left and I'm about to bust. I'm so addicted to this site it's crazy. ADDICTED just looking for any news from any one from his division. It's crazy. Hang in there, It will get better. The first week my son left I cryed for days. It's not uncommon, believe me. Good Luck! and yes it makes your heart ache.
Thanks for the words of support and congrats to you and your son. It wasn't until you said it, but I am also addicted to the site. (-: Best of Luck to you.
